Voice attack no longer works or even boots up. Help.

Hi all i purchased VA about a week ago. It worked fine a for a few days, now it doesn't work at all, correction. It doesnt even start! I click on the VA icon and the working icon appears for all of 2 seconds then stops.

Yes I clicked the icon in Admin mode. Yes I un instaled it and re installed. Nada nothing.

i dont know what else to do I'm totally at a loss.

Wow....that is odd.....can you go on the website and re-downloaded and then reinstall a fresh install after you uninstall it? I know I am having issues with A.S.T.R.A. as well as I can't figure out how to get the interactive commands to function as I guess they were disabled in the last update. I am almost positive my issues have nothing in common with yours though and I don't have any idea what they could be.....on an aside note if anyone knows how to re-enable the interactive mode with A.S.T.R.A. I would be most appreciative as I am so unfamiliar with the program that I have not clue one as to how to get that working again. I hope you can get your problem sorted out OP :(

Really need to get your sig printed on a T-Shirt.... Anyway, when you run VA and it closes, use task manager to check if it's still being held in memory. Try installing as Admin, download and install the latest beta version (Not the main version) Failing that ask the genius that created it - https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/voiceattack

Also check that you don't have any corrupt profiles left over after uninstall, voice attack leaves profiles intact even if you uninstall the main program.

I've been using it for a year now, works flawlessly.. Only issue I had was a corrupt speech recognition file.

Do you use AVG?

I had the same problem and disabling it makes voice attack work again. AVG updated the other day, so it must have stopped working then. Disabling is not good long term solution though, but I presume there's an exception list or something, I'll look into it tomorrow.

The interactive mode starts initially with the command 'Retract landing gear'. After that, you can turn in on and off with the commands 'interaction mode on' and 'interaction mode off'. Most of the time in my experience, she doesn't do anything until I 'mode on' and 'mode off' a few times. You can tell if it's working if she replies 'I am around'.

Yeah, in my case she was saying nothing....so I may need to unzip the zip again. It isn't an end of the world kind of thing as all the shortcuts work and such...but an interactive computer beyond asking specific questions or for random facts would be awesome and I hope it eventually gets expanded on even more.....

THE FIX
Hi yes I had the same problem, the reason is AVG updated the other day and after the update VA would not work.
It's not hard to fix, just open AVG goto options then exceptions tell avg to allow av exe and it should run fine.
