Voice Attack. Oooops.

lol nearly had that happen to me just before landing.
I've now got Joy2Key rigged up to press CTRL, which is the key I've designated to get Voice Attack to listen. I quickly say what I want then let go of the button.
The amount of times I've had the TV controlling my ship is embarrassing.

Could your command weight be too high?
I have trained my voice recognition to weight of 25 and its still working fine.
Still encounters false alarm but rarely, when using weight of 40.

Or if you are for it, you can try setting checks for more sensitive stuff.

Thanks for the info on weighting. I only got Voice Attack yesterday so still learning. Thanks also for your link. I had no idea VA was that flexible. Will definitely use that I think - "Computer", "yes, Commander?", "Engage Hyperdrive"

Best thing for VA is to use that windows voice training thingy (VA suggests it and can point you to the right place to find it) - do it again and again and again. Makes VA far less skittish and much, much less prone to mis-hearing things.

Also, perhaps not advisable to have voice commands for throttle, afterburners, or weapons... Easy enough to manage those through the stick/controller and a high potential for mayhem if misunderstood.

I went through the voice recognition training twice. Then got impatient then started playing with VA. I shall train some more times soon (some words were not recognized).

I have assigned a toggle to turn VA on/off on my MMO mouse. Just hope I remember to use it.

I remember seeing another thread about attaching sound files to voice commands so you get a nice reply. So I now have (to name a few) "yes", "no", "affirmative", deployed" and "I am completely operational and all my circuits are functioning perfectly" in an authoritative female voice.

What else could my on-board computer say to me?

"You don't want to target that"
"A waste of time going there"
"What the hell do you think you are doing?"
"You're not buying that rubbish?"

LOL! Afterburner, hardpoints and stuff like that should not assigned to VoiceAttack.

Also, i think some security phrase before command would be great: as istance say ''computer'' or ''betty'' before the voice command, or simply bind a button for voice commands.

Also depends a lot on your environment and mic pickup. I have never had a false trigger. There's a few commands that I've had to change or fine tune so that they get triggered though, some words and sounds work better than others.

That's why I use double worded commands:

engines boost
weapons deploy
gear down
power engines
power weapons
.
.
.

Don't be surprised but I started out with weight of 100 and I was once fined for littering due to misheard release cargo.

I switched it off totally :p

Regarding, voice replies using the TTS,
English replies: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8cadUPoYx18

I also made one in Japanese.

I trained it twice at first, but using a direct to mouth mic than open-air is a lot more effective so after switching over, i did 5 training sessions continuous as i think it will take quite a few sessions for my signal patterns to converge to the new mic.

for just in case, I started doing one session before I start my game.
And now, i have set it as low as weight of 25 and it still understands me.

EDIT: Forget to add in, the conditional statements seems to be in the beta version only.
