Horizons Voice Attack - Recall/Dismiss Ship

Hi folks,

As I was felling a little plush this month, I decided to treat myself to Voice Attack. It mainly seems to work quite well, but a number of the command simply don't work even though I have hotkeys setup.

The main annoyance is that when exploring planets, it wont dismiss or recall the ship. The window shows below. I am confused as it recognises the command, but then ignores it.

The trash yellow command was me getting my mic ready lol

So any pointers as to what has gone wrong? I haven't touched any of the commands as some of them appear to work just fine.

Thanks ;)

Kitty

PS: I am simply in awe of this software. Amazing to say the least, although one of Astra's recipes for a snack, seems rather odd...

Just think of how good it could be if the software could tell what tab you were on... If 2.4 was just the integrating of this software into the game I'd go for that...

There may be a key bind you have missed. Easier to use the included binds file, place in the ED direcotory and your good to go. All I did was adjust roll and pitch on the mouse but there are binds for Hotas, Joystick etc so all bases are covered.

Does it not do anything in the game itself? There's been a bit of shuffling around of where things are on the center console in 2.3, so I had to adjust my own VA macro for it to get to the right spot and keys. You have a premade profile (Astra), I wonder if they haven't updated it yet? "Command ignored" looks to me like a write back to the log after the profile error checks and determines that something didn't work right.

If it's not doing anything in the game, then it could be a key bind change, again, version updates do mess with things. Try double clicking on the command in the log window (with the green dot), and that will open the editor for it specifically. Might give a clue what it's trying to key press, and maybe you can see what you have set in the game.

Thanks. Ill have a poke around then and see what I can find :) It was odd. "prepare for landing worked when I was approaching a planet. and after landing, I was deployed into the SRV, which was great. I then did dismiss ship, the was a pause for 8. then she said something, than another pause for 18 seconds, and.. nothing. Heheh. But I think a lot of this is doing things at the right time...

I have found that as one learns how VA works. Slowly, but surely, more and more functionality gets added.
For instance, Try dowlnloading the radio pack to control all your music through VLC Player... which is super.
It features next/previous track, volume, pause/play and some radio stations includiing radio sidewinder. The HSC voicepacks forums are very useful for up to date information.

Voicepacks has a plugin that reads different things from the game logs, such as game state,messages...
It seems that VA ignores the command because it does not read your gamestate properly( gamestate does not equal srv) .
At the start of VA the ((Profile initialization)) should start. Also make sure that you have enabled plugin support in va-options-general-enable plugin support.
I'm not 100% sure that's your problem, but maybe this will help.
Sry about my English.

the recall dismiss ships is a keybind. I currently have it bound to a button on my throttle. Under Driving Miscellaneous.

I use voice attack packs astra and eden.

There are a number of simple steps to take to ensure that the voice packs work with elite
read the installation guide and follow it to the letter. Ensure that key bindings are correct and also (in windows 10 at least) work your way through the Microsoft speech recognition package found in the control panel.

usually I have problems with voice attack after ive manually accessed menus and panels. In this case the command "reset panels" helps

Sorry if thais doesn't help, but its all ive got :)

Menus are simply if you reset any horizontal tab yourself (FD should enable the same hold to stop far left/right). It also gets all complex when setting up Conditions for ON/OFF states. Also when using Keypresses as well as Voices for the very same titles. It does require using links and some other settings like "do not pass keys through". I got all what I need to relieve my hands from RSI.

About that specific problem (command ignored) i`m pretty sure that it has to do with what i said earlier, check that the plugin HCS Elite Dangerous Journal reader is initialized ". If you double click the "Dismiss the ship" command, you will have something like this:

Code:
"Begin Text Compare : [Game state] Does Not Equal 'srv'
Execute command, '((command ignored))' (by name) (and wait until it completes)
End Condition - Exit when condition met
Begin Boolean Compare : [Dust Off] Equals False
Execute command, '((RS - Ship Recall 1))' (by name) (and wait until it completes)
End Condition
Execute command, '((SRV Dismiss/Recall))' (by name)
Execute command, '((RS - SRV Recall Ship))' (by name) "
,

so if VA plugin doesn`t "read" that you are in a srv, the command gets ignored on purpose. Make sure you have this setup when started ( maybe without "EliteG19s...") :
http://prnt.sc/ezss0y
ezss0y

And I have this : ((Profile initialisation)) starting automatically when I run VA, this makes sure that the journal reader and key binding plugins are working properly.
This is a fairly new addition from the HCS VoicePack , and i used a customised profile , so i had to manually add that ((Profile initialisation)) to my current profile : "Edit Profile- Hit the Checkmark near the Profile Name - Execute a command each time this profile is loaded"
This also helps with multiple things in game because it reads when you dock/undock/liftoff/exit witchspace and more: You cand set landing gear off when undocking or set thrusters to 0% only when exiting witchspace..and more.

Ahh, reset, that is worth remembering as I have used the key presses as well as VA, so that is well worth trying. +1 [up]

So you can use 2 packs at the same time, or do you have to switch between them? I would like to get Brent Spinner plugged in as the astronomical information does interest me, although where I am at the moment in deep space, I dont think he would have much to say, as I am getting mainly M class Suns and orbiting ice balls! Although bland, now that the material list is given, I have taken time and dropped down to gather the very rare materials. Quite successful so far. I am still running out of pocket space despite is being upped to a 1000. Now if it were upped again to 1500, I would be well pleased.

I realised that when I started to find out what was going wrong. This maybe where the problem is, as I have it mapped to [LEFT_CTRL - M] which I think now is where the problem is. So I think I just need to tweak, either the key binding, or change the key press in VA.

Can you let me know what the default key-press is ?

Also, does saying "import key bindings" actually do anything? It recognises the command ok, but nothing else happens, no dialog, nothing... Is there a way to do this manually?

As a slight digression to this thread , I used to use an SPO256, one of the very first speech processors, hooked up to both my Spectrum and BBC B (yes, I played Elite on that too). It used phonemes to create the words and I used to get it to read hex dumps to me when I have problems blowing EPROMS for the Beeb. That takes me back, but it also shows how far speech recognition and Text to speech has come since those days. The same can be said for the game, which now is simply, astonishingly stunning. As a software developer, and having worked on DirectX engines (low level stuff), I have a lot of respect for the devs here, as I know how complex some things can be.

Thanks for all of your help so far :D

I Reset Horizontal Tabs manually e.g. Nav Panel for "Docking Request/Request Again". I don't do this for any other Panel as it could get messy once some of the binds get missed out which they do on occasion. For Vertical Menu selects I Reset these by macros to hold for 1sec e.g. Docking Tab + Enter Starport + Launch.
I also set macros for the 3 External Camera Views to check what's happening when Fighter Crew are docking (usually they're bouncing off repeatedly!) but often these get messed up when first used. Mixing key presses + voice commands here was not so straight forward. The actual Voice macro needed to use the LINK which the Key Presses would also use but had their own Voice off and vice versa. It takes some fiddling with to be sure you haven't got the same order issued twice.

I think I posted just after you did so missed what you said here.. Very interesting and +1 [up]

No worries..my replies has to be moderated first..im` new on forums so maybe that`s why u didn`t saw my reply.

The import key binding plugin it does just what it says pretty much..just importing your customised key bindings, so ,for example, if you set in game SHIFT+L as a custom key for landing gear instead of just L, VA should know and press that key instead, after importing key bindings.
It doesn`t suppose to happen anything else. I personally i added an extra command to respond when profile initialisation occured, so Eden will say "Awaiting orders", and i`ll know that everything started ok.

PS:sry English not my main language...

Edit: i forgot to add that the ((Profile initialisation)) that runs when VA starts up, does contain the "import key bindings" command, so if you have that set up you dont have to add that command again, untill maybe you change another keybind.
Code:
Set Boolean [HCS_Init] to True
Execute command, '((SavedVariables))' (by name) (and wait until it completes)
Execute command, '((Run diagnostics))' (by name) (and wait until it completes)
Execute command, 'Import my binds' (by name) (and wait until it completes)
Execute command, '((Run Journal))' (by name) (and wait until it completes)

Everything is making a lot of sense now :D

It is strange, everything is working really well now and I haven't exactly done anything. I think restarting a few times, importing key bindings, etc, has got it into a state that works. It was probably working correctly anyhow and I was missing something.

So good news. All is fine and it was well worth persevering. Ive just ordered a new headphone set with mic and that should improve things a bit. I did start using an old pair of headphones and I was amazed at how much I was missing, when it came to all of the the strange sounds of the universe. So my game-play has now become much more immersive.

Thanks to all who have helped... Really appreciate it!

Kitty! Nice to see you back on the Forums. Come visit us in Formidine Rift forum again sometime.

You want to live around here if using learning VA http://voiceattack.com/SMF/index.php?board=7.0

A useful link. I already have it BMd :D but thanks for the suggestion.

Yes, I should, although glimpsing at a few posts, I thought it had been completed with the discovery of the new super large ships, but what do I know :x I am still out in the black and heading back slowly to the bubble, so I will probably get involved again once I have done a few Engineer upgrades and fitted some weapons to this tub :)
