Voice Attack

Anyone using this awesome programme with ED? You can download the ASTRA voice pack (£10) which adds depth to your ships AI and gives you voice control over ship functions.
Fiddly to set up but once done it's very good.

Good example here: https://youtu.be/s4QkltClArw

Yeah, i use it in combat, its pretty awesome to use your weapos with your voice: Fire, Fire, Fire, Fire, Fire, Fire :D

Jokes aside, it can be very immersive, like the william shatner pack (named orion i think) which OA showed on youtube, but i dont like ship controls to be voice activated, sometimes it doesnt understand you, so you have to repeat the order. And a click to a button is faster most of the times. I think one can grow tired of voiceattack very fast.

Voice attack is no good for those with Tourettes.

Well not tourettes because their expletives are involuntary, but Voice Attack is excellent for people with potty mouths. You can set the commands to any word or phrase you wish..

[expletive deleted] - put all pips to shields

[you kiss your mama with that mouth?] - initiate the frame shift drive

[words that would shock a sailor] - Voice Attack reminds you that it is only a game whilst playing the national anthem in the background.

Simply awesome. I'm still tinkering with it, just got the personal responses pack yesterday which addresses you by commander name and many others. You can even personalise your AI with a name of your choice which she informs you of.

Even if you don't want to use voice commands, VA is good for setting up commands to run on keypress. I have been using it for ages now. I gave a couple of voice activated and the rest with no voice command but mapped to buttons on my usb keypad. I have auto request docking, auto launch, retract landing gear thrust up for leaving a station/outpost. Many different power distribution combinations etc.

This is how I use it now as well after too many silent running and heat sink fiascos from Voice Attack reacting to people on Discord speaking instead of me.

I've been using it just about the entire time I've played Elite - and I love it. It took me a little while to get the commands the way I wanted, and I'm still constantly adding and changing things. The software is leaps and bounds ahead of where it used to be, much easier to customize your profiles now.

I don't push buttons anymore, just move my stick and throttle. It's a necessity with any kind of VR as well.

Same here... using it since the beginning. I've had time on some of the longer trips out to program various combat/emergency maneuvers, a Power Management Matrix, Autonomous Ops and Comms text response modules into VA as well.

When selected, The autonomous mode comes in VERY handy when the AI doesn't hear from me for a while <Timer for last access sets, Zero Throttle Sets, Timer for velocity to Min, drop out of SC, Module shut down to conserve fuel/power --- when I wake up/come back/ or otherwise reengage... the ship is in "SafeMode" with a single command everything comes back on line and we're ready to fly again> (yep... I could always just shut down.. but there are times that just doesn't happen :D )
