Newcomer / Intro Voice command interface

What's the problem?

EDIT:
1) Install the VA software
2) Make sure your mike is working as an input device
3) Run the Windows voice recognition training software at least 3 times (the more the better)
4) Go into VA and make a new profile
5) Add new commands. Each command can be bound to keystrokes, invoke sounds, etc etc.
6) Don't make the commands too long, or too similar.

You might find VA occasionally stops working or gets erratic and doesn't recognise some commands. If so, stop it and start it again. No need to reboot the game itself.

Is a headset with mic or just a normal mic best practice?

Can't get it to work was the problem lol

Either will work, but a mike on a headset is most convenient and cheapest and tends to have better noise rejection so extraneous sounds don't confuse the VA software (or Teamspeak, etc).

Remember to have lots of docking-related commands that sound a lot like "boost".

This video illustrates that nicely. A guy is chatting to his brother via VOIP as they both play the game. His brother has the TV on in the background at his place, and Voice Attack hears what it thinks is the word "Boost" on the TV... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZNI1xyFdt0#t=83 Bang goes a Type 7 laden with 216 tonnes of cargo.

I have to say "Engage Afterburner" to fire up Boost - I think it's safer. :D
