I only have about 300 hours with EDO, four ships, 30 Mil Cr, and I am still a noob with EDO with a lot of things to learn. Playing in VR, I was fumbling with forward mounted control panels by touch and feel, with even some HOTAS controls (throttle has control panel) hard to get to. Previously I wasn't interested in Voice Attack, I felt that key pressing was faster and good enough.
I eventually installed EDDI and made sure all plugins worked. Wow, that is a fantastic addition to ED, made a huge difference. Then I finally decided two days ago it was time for Voice Attack and an HCS Voice Pack. After spending some time installing them, re-installing EDDI, I found the voice and button pushing working together very well. Some things are faster with voice, some with buttons. Using both is a delight. But most importantly I am not taking hands off the HOTAS controls now. Hard to reach buttons are now ignored and fumbling for buttons on front panel controls are a thing of the past. It has been working beautifully with no hick-ups. Sure, I got tired of the Windows speech teach steps which I ran four times and ate up a lot of time, but wow, just wow. For VR, I find having voice commands a must have now.
Not a commercial, just a noob being once again amazed with my favorite toy, the wonders of ED just continue to impress. The 3rd party apps and user apps/tools/websites simply pump ED with steroids. A big o7 to all of the folks who put in the extra work and effort to improve all CMDRs careers!!!
PS: I also got the Gravity DLC for HCS Voice Pack which supports the foot part of EDO. I was surprised it has already been updated to support emotes, which is a perfect thing for voice commands. "Salute!"
