So, I ran out of gas today and the good guys at fuel rats saved my butt. But as he was refueling me. He got on to the subject of Void Opals. He said to go the EDDB and look up opal rings. I can’t even find void opals in it. Are they behind the update? I guess I know how to find LTD and others but how do you hunt the rings with VO in them? I’m looking in Pristine rings but have yet to find a hot spot. Any ideas?

Not sure how long they’ll be worth the trouble now. Their value dropped by more than half in the last couple of days.

Inara says there are 30+ ports buying them for 1.6 Million, so what makes you say this?
Eh? I checked Inara earlier when I was looking to sell and the highest I saw was around 750k.

Funny one that. while I was guiding my son ( who also plays pc version) we were both on Inara at our respective locations and got different results on same search criteria?
My go-to station is no good anymore. Well, I guess this is a good way to build up faction rep with as many stations as possible. Too bad I’m already at trade Elite.

The last time I went opal mining, it required a lot more effort:
A ten hour drive into the desert
Decent of a 30m ladder with a shotgun
Use of said shotgun to despatch taipans and mulgas that had fallen down the shaft
Endless hours of jackhammer and shovel work
Very little reward
The 34th century version seems much better. Might give it a go on the weekend.
PS: Frontier should add a new ship - The Mulga

Basically FD have seemingly added a mad price hike for Void Opals to seemingly make folks overlook the fact the new mining mechanics aren't working very well at the moment

Allegedly it's the BGS and not FD per se that has hiked the price. I am surprised that it's 10x the galactic average tho' and that it's lasted this long. As someone else said tho' - make hay while the sun shines!
