Hardware & Technical Volair Sim Cockpit/3 Monitors/Interchangeable Setups

Hi,

I have the T16000 Hotas, at the moment, started Elite with a T-flight Hotas X. I prefer to improve things step by step, to make sure, that my money goes to the right place. I am this cautious type :) . But this way, I have always a 'next step' to dream about :) .

Best regards!

I started out cautiously as well, I started with ED on the Xbox when it was in preview. Then I bought it for my Mac, an old 2008 Mac Pro tower that had been hanging on for dear life. Then I decided to build the PC and I bought the T-Flight HOTAS X as well, along with a cheap 43" HDTV I found on sale at Walmart. From there I bought the Saitek X-56 and eventually the MonsterTech desk mounts for them. I then bought the TrackIR and I thought that was all I needed.

Soon, after reading some threads about the MFDs and the TARGET software, I wanted more. I bought the Warthog and the MonsterTech mounting plates and later the MFG CrossWind pedals but found that my desk was no longer really suitable. It was then that I thought it would be a good idea to build a cockpit, and to combine my Xbox driving with my PC flying. I was only later that I found that I couldn't make it interchangeable enough without a lot of work and compromises. So I've decided to go all out on an ED cockpit and leave the driving to the Xbox at my office desk.

Once my cockpit is finished I might try to have a small driving simpit on my home office desk but it will need to be a temporary affair. I think the MonsterTech mounts can help there but we shall see.

I started the cockpit building with racing sims too. I played Assetto Corsa for more than 2500 hours. And before that, all the Gran Turismo episodes, on PS1, PS2 and PS3. So I have a T500 (and a G27) wheel too, which doesn't fit into my Elite sim-rig now :) .

Great thread!

I've tried Elite out running on three monitors and it was awesome, so now I'm thinking of doing something similar to what you have done.

The only downside is I made need to use my second PC for streaming, as I'll need a forth monitor to monitor OBS, YouTube and the Live Chat.

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know, and thanks for the inspiration Brian!
