Voluntary subscription fee

Like the title says, I'd like an opt-in subscription fee that will allow me to contribute more financially to the future of the game. Don't want any special status, just to give. Those who can afford it and love ED can join, our monthly donations catalysing development and helping ensure ED's future.

Welcome to the forum.

AFAIK it's not something FD are looking at.

You can of course buy ship kits and paint jobs in the store along with merchandise which helps to keep the game running and of course you get something back :)

While I would not pay a subscription for ED, having an optional one could have some good perks, such as access to all livery, beta access, and DLC as long as you keep the subscription going.
If you end it, your account reverts back to what it was before.

Kinda like Amazon Prime Video/Music... I think.
That reminds me, I need or cancel the free trial. Lol

I'm such a cheap skate. :D

I like it, CMDR. The idea is developing.

Problem is for me, I have no way to contribute more than buying up more livery and bobbleheads I don't want. Give me a donate button and I'd be happy. I know I probably sound crazy to some CMDRs, but I have excess income and feel I should put a little of it at least towards the thing I spend a lot of time doing.

I would not pay a voluntary subscription that did not include some benefit but I have no objection to you doing so.

Can you buy livery and gift it to another CMDR?

I refuse to buy a bobble head. Ugly things. Give me a Hutton mug to sit on my ship’s console and I might consider it. Maybe a half empty bottle of JD wedged between the dashboard and window for my pirate ship.

How about a compass? It would only work on planets. And I would really like a traditional aircraft artificial horizon instrument when in a gravity well.

You have got one already. (Or did my sarcasm sensor have a failure? ;) )

Shame your first post is something that has been flogged to death repeatedly.

Welcome to the fora anyway. :)

You can always donate your excess income to the Cosmic Spacehead Charity.
Our [my] goal is to make sure the poor CMDR Cosmic Spacehead's in the galaxy have a decent PC, which isn't made from second hand parts. :D

Donations welcome.

voluntary subscription !!!! If you have money to waste it should be done on charities, or hand it to the homeless. May be FD should sponsor a charity so people like you can hand the cash over.

It already exists. It's called the "Frontier Store" ;)

Since the price tags there are often quite heavy compared to most other Games, you could even see that as an extended Kickstarter.
So planned monthly purchases can be used as a substitute for such a Subscription model.

Nice sentiment, but the world doesn't really work that way. People will spend their money on the things they like, and I think it's a little illogical to say that every time a person buys something frivolous they should have given it to a homeless person or charity instead. We're not monks.

Lots of folks have expensive hobbies. ED is what I spend a lot of my time doing, and it's largely free. I don't mind paying a bit for the privilege. More capital for FDev means faster development. Their livestreams are always full of changes everyone wants, but that are on the 'big list' – in other words 'not a priority'.

I know stuff is being added all the time, but it is GLACIALLY slow. I'd like to see the 'big list' posted up somewhere, with donation goals, maybe. We, as a community, can pay to have added the features we most care about, while the rest of FDev gets on with their own priorities.

Yes, I can buy stuff off the Frontier Store, but I don't want any of it, and it's not the same as subscribing, or donating towards a focused purpose.
