I had all the wurds, all of them.

The best drabble ever was right there within my cranial meninges, and then I was laid low by a plague of mysterious origins. What a disappointment!

"I, {insert name}, wish to enter the Annals of Drabble Lore!"

OOps, I mean, Congrats Frank. You inspire us with your courageous acts of bribery.

(PS- Your check bounced.) ;)

Wow! I was fourth last time I checked. My Drabble must've sprinted up the to the top at the last moment. That's brilliant. Thanks very much everyone. That's completely the opposite of a disappointment.. an appointment?

I can give you the topic for next week. It's GUIDE

And here's a bit of guidance for you Erik. Next time your finger slips, you shouldn't broadcast that fact on a public forum. You might find the people for whom you are supposed to be working, will be less inclined to cancel cheques.

Congrats Frank! A drabble worthy of a thousand wins!

:) LOL

Guide, eh? I was writing my drabble earlier today.

After Telakin's excellent reading of his drabble and the well desrved surge therefafter, I thought he had the competition in the bag.

However I hadn't taken account of the Surge Master himself Frank.

Well done to Frank for once again coming unexpectedly from behind.

Thanks! I guess I'll have to find more angles to push my contributions that I feel comfortable with. I could work on quality, but why do all that work if I could turn it into a local community goal ... ;)

The quiet before the storm

“Beat to quarters!” The sound of kettle drums began reverberating throughout the Fretensis, as her crew closed up at their action stations.
Into the organised chaos of the CiC strode Trierarchus Marcellus, still buttoning his resplendent red Imperial tunic and adjusting the scabbard of his ceremonial Officers sword.
“Report, Naverrichi Pullings.”
“Sir, we got a garbled transmission from the picket boat. They report one contact, not matching any known ship signature. Ship is at Condition One.”
Marcellus smiled, proud of his crews professionalism. He grabbed the internal comms handset, keying it open “This is Fretensis Actual. Prepare for combat jump.”
