Just incase you didn't see:

Elite have run a competition for a new community goal & rare good, the seven shortlisted ideas are now in a poll open for voting:

the 'Hutton Mug' is currently way out in front - although it contravenes the entry rules (it already has a rare) - and it means a rare good & CG that will require flying to Hutton Orbital - kind of self defeating...i think a few people voting for the mug may regret it afterwards!

Yup. That's got to be the only one really worth doing. It's interesting. It's outside of the bubble so there's exploration and development of the system to be had. Let's push the frontier. And the gold could even be profitable.

Shouldn't that be The Hutton T-Shirt (as in "I went to Hutton and all I got was....") :) Personally I'd like to see rares have a LOT more variation, e.g. some that can only be sold in certain places, variable profitability, integration into missions, quirks like time based deterioration or morphing. Rares should be interesting!

I would like to see them add all 7 of the shortlist, but do a CG for the winner only...heh heh

no-one's gonna participate in a Hutton Orbital CG

Oh I thought this was solely community based selection, so we would have voted on all valid entries, then vote again on the top 7 from them. Ahh well best select the Mug, as you would have to be a mug to go get some hahahaha.

I'm hoping that this they will actually be true to their word. ... but you're right. I think I'll kill a Pirate Lord and then have a cuppa. Reminds me :) It's Pirate Day in Hastings this weekend. Time for a change of hats and something special in my tea.

Perhaps a better idea would have been to put all seven of these Community Goals in the game anyway, and see how well they do? Survival by actual gameplay, instead of survival by forum committee.
