Imagine a universe where all you need to do is to travel to a distant location once then you can teleport your ships to wherever you happen to be. What will this do the politcal/military situation within the bubble? Indeed why bother having spaceships at all in a space game if you can just teleport your stuff wherever you want whenever you want? It literally means that there is no point to all of the stations and infrastructure in the universe if materials, commodites, ships and parts can be transferred instantly from place to place.
It smashes any sense of realism apart, and flies in the face of the rich lore and history of the Elite Universe, undermining it all. It makes the entire premise of the game universe unbelievable and if it’s unbeliveable then you can’t suspend your disbelief and play it in any meaningful way. It’s suddenly just a game as opposed to a science fiction simulator and believable world in the same way that a cheap paperback fantasy book is just a book, when compared to the Lord of the Rings. This cheapens the experience of Elite for all players, both casual and commited and should be stopped in it’s tracks.
This is why I urge you all to sign this petition and vote with your feet and your wallet. If FD continues with this I will not every spend another penny with them ever again, I will not buy their expansions, or their ship skins or ship kits or any other game they make.
They will have a lost a customer, add your name below if you feel the same way.
