VR: Allow scanning plants in 3D mode and default to 3D view when on-foot

I'm sure that an on-foot VR mode has been requested for a while, but here's a suggestion for a limited version. Every VR player already knows that you can switch to 3rd person camera on foot and it looks so much better in VR than the 2D screen. I noticed that when holding the exploration scanner/sampler you can actually right-click and it does scan the surroundings for plants and highlights them in green. Can we allow the left-click action to work also, so that we can scan the plants in 3D? For exploration the following changes would effectively allow VR players to stay in 3D VR at all times:
  • Allow scanning with right-click in 3D
  • Default to 3D mode when exiting ship/SRV
  • Default to a 3rd-person view behind the player/character instead of in front (perhaps over shoulder so that you can see what you're pointing the scanner at)
Of course a full fix would be to allow the HUD to show up in VR mode, but I imagine that's more work.

The problem is that they haven't linked the VR Point of View to the head of the pilot model. It's why if we VR walk around our POV floats about but the pilot body stays where it is.

I would love it if they could attach the POV to the pilot's head when outside, but still use the mouse/keyboard or controller to move the character. The issue is they'd have to add additional tracking for the head, and whatever control is used to point the body/gun/ tools.

However, that's the problem with VR as this approach can make a lot of players nauseous, as there is a disconnect between how the body moves and the player's body, and I don't think fdev have the resources to do like NMS did where they redesigned the full UI and gestures for VR.

Personally, I know I'd pay another full price game's worth just to get NMS like VR in Odyssey version, but you get the feeling that they're not interested in developing that due to the size of the VR market in Elite.
