VR and Elite

But honestly, they're all amazing.

My thoughts too. Though my favorites are the Orca, AspX and Beluga. Yes the Beluga is as massive as it looks. The T9 like all Lakons have a good view but I didn't like flying it. Not tried the T10 yet.

T10 is a joy to fly. Handles almost as good as Beluga. You will only need to do something about jump range, but mine is 31LY empty which is not bad at all.

Pretty much all the ships flight decks/cockpits look great in VR. And I've seen pretty much all of them.

However to me the Sidewinder is the best in VR.

It's design is beautiful, use of materials - suedette for the panel coverings! The cool CO2 extinguisher front left and the cargo rack with the elastic webbing cover down to your right. There's a metal flask in there and a book you cannot quite read the title of...

awesome stuff.

8k VR?

Above the planet on a wing and a prayer,
My grubby halo, a vapour trail in the empty air,
Across the clouds I see my shadow fly
Out of the corner of my watering eye
A dream unthreatened by the morning light
Could blow this soul right through the roof of the night

Says it all :)

I've got WMR, yes.

And for the OP - My favourite ship is T9/T10. The cocpit is vast and you're basically sitting in an glass bubble 15 meters above ground. The feeling is incredible.

Thanks, one more thing, the experience is better than oculus or vive?

Anyone has used a windows mixed reality device?

I have one, and it performs well for where it is. No problems with the hardware itself, but currently SteamVR support is still in Beta and being worked on. So I can't quite play it in VR as much as I like yet. Can't say if it's better or worse until the bugs get ironed out. When sitting still, I can definitely read things better than on the Rift. Other than that I can report back once SteamVR is all patched up.

As for ships I like to fly in VR, I actually fly my FGS quite a bit when in VR. It's got an open view without feeling vulnerable. Plus it has this little alcove next to the player that looks like a coffee dispenser, and it always makes me chuckle when I see it. Ships like the Asp, T9 and others with an open cockpit do give you more slightly more view, but it doesn't help me much when landing I find so I usually end up using instruments anyway.

The slightly better resolution subjectively helps, but it's no big leap.
Tracking is fine.
The only problem I'm experiencing is that if I move my head really fast, the screen tears into a SteamVR loading logo thingy for a fraction of a second. But that'a probably thanks to the beta state of the drivers.
Other than that, I'm quite happy with it

For me personally the biggest advantage is comfort

I agree with all, the ships look amazing. I was also blown away driving the SRV on planet surfaces. Being in that glass bubble on big wheels is amazing. Also, driving around and underneath your ship drives the scale home. As you approach a cargo barrel at a desolate crash site or something it feels as if you are really about to collide with it.

Yes. It’s worked well for me so far.

I think the best cockpit view in VR is the ASPX, you can see everything above you, at your sides, and even below, like an helicopter!

I like the view of the AspX; it's fun to just stare out the canopy drifting in space when near stations, planets, and other stellar bodies. The FDL has a great feel to it; it's almost Millennium Falcon-like with the side-by-side seating. I like the difference in scale when sitting in a Sidewinder or the SRV. You definitely get more of a cramped feeling in the spirit of their small size.

Now, if only it didn't have that bulky console blocking a significant part of the view; Its only purpose seems to be to serve as backdrop for the holofac display. :p

a must see in VR is a t7 with mining lasers in the front slots.
my gawd gives me a headache every time!

Still learning to fly?

8k VR sounds good and I have an open mind, especially as I've not seen ED in Rift, Vive, or WMR.

However one thing that concerns me is processing power.

I have been following the VR thing and thinking of trying the WMR headset, but the one thing I notice most of you talking about is the amount of power the PC needs to run VR and not to mention the Graphics card and the rendering.

Now maybe I have this wrong but the current graphics quality in VR, is like an old fashioned Cathode Ray TV. and 8K is like skipping HD and going straight for a 4K tv x2. One for each eye.

That sounds like you're going to need the mother of all graphics cards or maybe even two to get the best out of that.
