VR and fighters

Hi

So i got out in my first fighter and    ? are the panels doing all the way up there? i saw someone say it was horrible in the beta, and FD said they would look into it. i guess they decided not to ?

i cant see out of my frea king window....

i MIGHT accept it if it was bcos there wasnt any room to place the menu's

but there is ALOT of room right below it, i dont understand what on earth they are doing up there in the first place.
who came up with this?

i got a keybind on my hotas for resetting the view :p i want it perfect all the time, so yeah that didnt change anything.

can you see the info on the screenshot? the dunyach enterprise ross 490 blabla...

The menu should be in line with that, and not wayy above it.

Have to agree with the OP here. i play in the Rift, CV 1 and imo, the side panels are way too high. There is so much room below i really don't understand why they are up that high. Sure, i can disable the feature to stop them popping up but, i really like that feature and would rather not disable. I guess my ship launched fighter will be manned by the npc!! lol
 
I ended up disabling it as it kept ruining my view - but you can just bind panel focus somewhere convenient (the pinkie perhaps?) and hold it down when you look that way - stops them from ever opening - or quickly closes them if opened..
 
Yes, does seem too high - and lessens one of the features of VR (i.e. your view is now more obscured than previously).
I think it's also slightly further away than previously as well - so is marginally less easy to read.
In the 2.2 Beta in CQC the panel of the Condor was actually outside the ship ! At least that got changed and it's inside now.

I bugged it during Beta, but unfortunately it went through. I will bug it again in the next day, or join another bug report.
 
Lol, it won't affect me as I run with the panels turned off and the auto-pop-up feature turned off. I just use a hat on my Warthog to turn the side panels on/off.

Still, they look waaaay high though. Will send a bug report tonight too.
 
Well like many, the pop on look feature is just stupid, so that is obviously turned off.

As for the height of the displays, I actually kind of like it.
 
why do you like that they block your view?

the menu's in _ALL_ other ships are down, but in the fighters they are up.

and the popup arent stupid, im sorry if you dont like it, but im pretty sure the majority does.

turning something off that are obvious bugged isnt a solution! its a temporal fix if anything.

Because the cockpits are so physically small, if they were at default positions they likely clip with cockpit geometry.
 
Something interesting is that the function of the "UI Lock" key is reversed when in VR. If you're holding it, the menus stay invisible rather than stay visible.

I think that one can be set to toggle mode as well? Could be a viable workaround
 
Just disable them auto-popping up when you look out to the side. I do that for all my ships. It's in the config options. Problem solved.
 
Just disable look-at panel activation. It was cool at first, but not really anymore once you have learned your bindings.
