VR and unfeasibly large IPD

OK I'm looking at getting a high end laptop at some point in the next few months. Looking at the spec's it should be able to run VR woot :D but the research I've done has thrown up an issue. Doh :(

The IPD seems OK for most people but I'm more at the extremes with an IPD of 73 mm  - bit like that :)

Has anyone with an unfeasibly large IPD tried VR and if so does it work still or will I have to wait till they finesse the units to be more adjustable?

Are you sure you have an IPD that big, I thought I had something like 72, but then I had my optometrist measure it, and it turned out to be 68, which is quite reasonable.

Wow - that's like the 98th percentile! That's a huge ipd.

How high end is the laptop going to be? You need a 970 minimum for ok performance, and that's a desktop 970. I know Chillblast do some 970M laptops in the UK, but for the weight, and money, you'd be better and cheaper with a desktop. Otherwise, YMMV.

I've been looking for a laptop which can drive the DK2 decently without costing over $1500, and I've not found one yet. You really need to shoot for performance for VR otherwise the stuttering will make you physically sick.
