VR Chair

Here's an interesting VR option: a special chair.

The promo video even shows ED in use at 0:42.

It has butt kickers and special no-tangled cords connectors (for either the Rift or Vive).

The downsides are that it's a bit pricy, it may not be suitable for Pimax, and that it only has yaw. It really needs pitch and roll to be fully-featured.

Here's a review: https://www.vrinsite.com/reviews/roto-vr-chair/

Here's a write up on the prototype: https://www.engadget.com/2015/03/05/roto-virtual-reality-chair/

Looks as if it could be a consideration? I am on my mobile and can't easily digest all your links, so excuse me for asking what may be written down on one of the links, but do you know actual Price and availability date at all?

Nice find though NW3. Repped.

OK, found it. They are actually a UK company, so good for me ;) Price for 'Total Chair' (Have emailed to find out what is 'Total') is $1499, strange a UK company have no currency changer thing on their site so i have no idea what the £ price will be, Again Emailed.

Lets see what their response is like!

I would rather take these 1500 and hit up a junk yard and teach myself electro mechanical engineering and build a proper motion rig.

This looks like a b grade chair with buttkickers stuck to a mutilated roomba.
In fact a meandering 360 rotation would be the last axis of rotation I would bother with for elite or any motion sim.

To be fair the 1500USD is for a 'Total Package' which hearing from them is EVERYTHING on their product page. Had a good chat with them, and unfortunately they can't ship until March 2018, which is no good for me as i must have things NOW ;) (Why i have not kickstarted Pimax).

Interestingly enough, being a UK based Chineses product, they know quite a lot about the new Pimax 8k and are working closely with them over in China to get their chair ready for Pimax (When you order a chair you have to order it for HTC or Rift and are not interchangeable due to the tangle free cable unit and different HDMI plug wiring), and he let it slip that Pimax are really Really Struggling for both dates and resolution promises. He realised his mistake and asked me not to broadcast this, and i said of Course not ;) ;) .

Now whether this was intentional, true, lie, of just fabrication i have NO IDEA and no source, so don't go asking me for one!!

As for the chair? well if they had one on the shelf in time for Christmas, i would have got Santa to put one in his sack! I like the look of it and i think (IMHO) it would have added to the imurshun of my Rift or VR in general.

o7 Cmdrs and VR safe!

I have to agree. This would be cool in shooters and other VR experiences, but for Elite I would rather have left/right/forward/backward tilting!

You say you would prefer the left right up down chair, but show me one that dosent make me sell some organs to buy it.
This is not perfect but it is a step in the right imurshun direction.

A user here showcased his homemade chair with full range of motion. I have no skill to make such a thing myself though. Anyway, I agree that this is a cool step forward! Just not for me right now.

Hmmm. I thought it was a finished product. Not a big deal for me.

That's interesting news about Pimax, but not surprising. Kickstarters are often delayed and personally, I thought their ship times were aggressive/optimistic. Still, I'd rather Pimax ship a good product, even if it's delayed, instead of a rushed (and flawed) product.

True. I'd like one, especially if it supports a Pimax 8K, but I think a new video card has top priority for me.
