VR doesn't work with SDK 0.6

I've read someone playing with SDK 0.6. How do they do it? IT does not work for me. All I get is a screen flickering rapidly..

I am playing with it and I had to do nothing extra to achieve it. I run in extended mode and it works out of the box.

Works for me too. No issues.

Windows 8.1, Latest Nvidia Drivers.

Oculus SDK 0.6.0.0

I tried to revert to 0.5 and it worked again.. I don't know what's happening.. I know that the rendering is different in 0.6

It works with 0.6 but launching it can be buggy. If you get the flickering screen issue then either power cycle the HMD a few times until the display shifts to the HMD, or shut down the Elite process in Task Manager and start again. Occasionally this results in the game starting in Direct mode, which you can tell because the low persistence mode disappears.

I would leave it for now as Frontier are having issues implementing it... So you wouldn't really get the benefits anyway even if you got it working.

The Project Cars guys are making some strides. These are the two games I play so hoping we get some good news for ED soon:

After working on some bugs/optimisations for the better part of this week, I got a chance to tidy up and check the new Oculus stuff in:

CL579925 [Base v1.5.469.0] [Modules][VrInput] Refactor VRInput to support Oculus 0.6.0.0 SDK.
CL579926 [Aries] switch APP props over to using Oculus SDK 0.6.0.0
CL579928 [Common/Renderer/GraphicsEngine] Renderer and Appsupport Oculus 0.6.0.0 SDK support

It's really rather good

I've also been unable to get the game to work with SDK 0.6. and 1.3.
Same flickering issue.

Windows 8.1...latest NVidia drivers...extended mode...but it still doesn't work.
I've tried many different ways to get the game to work again...like starting the game on my regular monitor and switching the graphics options to the oculus after that...
No go.
It worked beautifully before....but since SDK 0.6 nope.

I am able to get it working in Direct Mode however...
Sadly direct mode just isn't optimal for playing.

I am assuming this is being worked on and is not due to something I am doing wrong?

Rolling back the oculus would be my best option eh?

I know what the problem was. I had SweetFX injected to the libovr service (For dx9 games like ETS2), but it didn't work with Elite... 0.6 is rendering extended mode similar to direct mode, and that's why SweetFX injected to the game .exe no longer works.. It has to be injected to the libovr executable, which is currently not working with Elite..

TLDR: 0.6 works without SweetFX, SweetFX makes it crash.. I'm going back to 0.5 for the SFX

Don't want to disagree with you but, it's more than that as I have never installed or run sweet fx and 0.6 doesn't worrk for me!

Oh! Then you have missed out on something! :) At least in your case it would help to uninstall the SDK, restart and then install the 0.5 and then restart again. And then reinstalling the 0.6 and restart again.... :p

I've wiped and clean installed everything to try 0.6. To no avail.

Yes but do it as I said, I think that will work. After removing 0.6, restarting, installing SDK 0.5, restarting and then start Elite once with 0.5.. Then uninstall 0.5, restart and reinstall 0.6

Probably obvious, but are your graphics card drivers reasonably new? If you're using whatever Windows automatically loaded, they might be weeks or months older than the newest AMD or Nvidia versions. I'm using 0.6.0.0 and have been for since it came out, it works fine with Elite in extended mode. No issues whatsovever. Running a gtx970, newest drivers, i5 3350P, win7pro x64. So strange that it doesn't seem to work for most people. I did have to uninstall, reinstall 0.6.0.0 once when I first downloaded it due to a hiccup of some sort, but at that point it wasn't even running the 'demo scene' right, a fresh install fixed that.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that I did that aswell :) So try new drivers also!
