Once you put on the HMD, you really shouldnt need to remove it, or peak down at your keyboard, etc. And really, the only place that needs a keyboard is the galaxy map. In the galaxy map, you dont see your avatar at all so no animation is required. And since that's the case, the galaxy map area really could be where all keyboard related functions happen. Stick a web browser in there. Done.
