on a different topic...Why can't we have a seated version of odyssey in VR? I understand that a full room scale VR with controllers is a massive undertaking, one you could work on for a while. In mean time why not allow VR in the seated position? How is that different from playing on a flat screen with a hotas? I had to bind another axis to head pitch when this could have easily been programmed to allow head pitch to be controlled by head position. The devs need do nothing but allow "head pitch" (which can be bound to other axis controllers) to be bindable to the position of the headset. The result would be a flat (non vr) graphic that was controllable with HMD. How is this really different from seated space flight? The progression is very simple and might just save the game: 1. allow head pitch to be controlled by the HMD. 2. Optimize the graphics so the settlements and concourses appear to be 3D. 3. Roomscale VR.
1. is easy, just allow the pitch of the HMD to be bound as the headlook pitch axis.
2. is a little work but the game will play like Horizons, players will just remain seated and control their commander. Really how is this different than what you are currently offering?
3. I think we'd get over it if this never happened. And if you do, in the future, accomplish this I hope it will be optional. I can't speak for everyone, but I don't really want to get up and stumble around my game room. I am quite happy with staying seated.
I believe room scale VR and ship interiors have the same issue. Everybody thinks they want it but it will get old quick. I for one might want to navigate a big ship once or twice then I would get really bored.
