... and I think I'm scarred for life.
I guess I've been living under a rock for the last year 'cos I simply wasn't aware of the new(ish) Oculus Quest headsets.
Realised their price on Sunday , did a nightshift last night and then scuttled straight to town to buy a Quest 2 this morning.
So, yes. Now I'm part of the VR Master Race.
Anyway, just installed the demo', spent half an hour throwing paper-planes around and shooting stuff and then I thought I'd have a break and see what was going on in forumland.
As I sit in front of my PC I find myself wondering how to manipulate the controllers so I can type accurately and whether I need to move a hand to move the mouse cursor around the screen.
Truly bizarre, the way a short time using VR has left me with a latent feeling that the real-world is also something that can be manipulated in the same way VR stuff can be.
Last time I dabbled with VR was with an Oculus DK2.
Whole thing has just moved on massively since then.
I wasn't surprised to find the graphics are better. The displays are, after all, much higher resolution.
What I AM impressed by, though, is how "natural" the interfaces all now feel.
Totally blown away, so far!
Next step will be to buy the Quest 2 "Five Nights at Freddy's" game and then give the missus a go of it.
