VR home cockpit (360 freedom of movement) idea / Kickstarter

My dear fellow commanders

So I've had this idea a while back and created this video and a website and everything to
explain the idea. I have good connections with the engineers and the programmers I would need
to make it happen. The goal would be to make it available for around 7000,- euro's.

But would gamers go for it? or is it just too far ahead still? I would need to kick-start at least a million
to get it started so I would love some feedback before I decide to really go for it or not

I made calculations and that's just the best price I could make it available for in the current economy (unless you have a huge investor who can easy the process).

Probably not viable on a large scale and as Adam suggests, not a good look using anothers trademarks in your own promotional material...

Well at this point it's just a concept so no problem with trademarks their. If it gets serious it's time to make a deal or switch to
another supplier of-course :)

No, you're using their branding in your promotional material. That is a problem unless you have permission.

like I said, we don't have any "promotional" materials because their is no product :) It's just a concept presentation. In which it's fine to barrow whatever one needs to
get the concept across :)

The price would immediately exclude me from even considering a purchase. This is a gaming peripheral, and people already complain about the cost of Rift/Vive. I assume that to get your money back on your investment that you'd have to sell quite a few units. I can't see many people willing to pay that kind of money out on this device. Also, I wouldn't actually have the room to keep this thing in my house!

Nice idea, but I think ultimately your audience is going to be very small.

This is also my main 2 concerns. Thanks for your feedback!

I think the feelthree is a more viable approach.
http://www.feelthree.com/

- It rotates you around your centre of mass, which requires less power and so simpler/cheaper motors
- The design has very few parts

Yes I know of this one and it's very cool too. There are several other designs out there. The range of motion is a bit more limited
but there are some upsides also to be sure.

While it is a good idea your target market will be small.

My wife, as an example, would not allow that into our small place. She would freak. Pointing out she had a multi-level sprawling cat tower in the bedroom would not help my case either.

There are very few single men with that level of disposable income not already dedicated to beer and other party related items shall we say...

Well without an official API outputting telemetry data I can't see this device being of any use in Elite unless its using data from the users HOTAS. That would be sub par in my opinion. I like the idea, my other half would kill me.

Don't forget to add the cost of liability insurance for when your VR customers are strangled by their cord while performing loops and rolls. ;)

7000.00 euros? that more than 10grand can dollars!
I could almost buy a real airplane like an ultralight for that price.

Did I miss something? The video did not demonstrate the actual function of the product. Is your idea to have the rig move to simulate the movement you would feel in a cockpit? I'm assuming yes but I did not see that. Will the product be able to spin you completely upside down?

This was actually how I started. My girlfriend really hated the design of all the other cockpit devices. So I kept designing until she said she liked it :) Because it looks more
like a cool sports car now :)

Yes it could put you upside down, although that is not really what is needed. But the ability to go up a bit more than 90% does make the simulation of very high acceleration very real.

Yes it would need an official app with telemetry data to make it work, but this is possible with enough work.

And I was pointing out that your video does not show that.
