Question if someone can answer.

I am running Windows 7 with 0.5 Oculus runtime and DK2
Does the ED update break this ?

I have the same set-up as you catanonia. Indications are that we may have to wait 'till 28th to get the 1.3 SDK if we want to use the DK2 with the latest ED patch update. I'll try it out anyway when the update is done....

The patch notes refer to adding support, not changing anything that already works. If the 1.3 SDK doesn't support the DK2 then I'm pretty sure FD wouldn't suddenly break the old SDK support. I guess we'll know soon.

Can anyone confirm if this will allow me to upgrade to SDK 0.8, will it also bring back IPD adjustments?

Currently on 0.5, didn't want to mess about with steam VR etc, things are running smoothly.

For users running 0.8, SteamVR is still needed. Older runtimes on previous OSes should work okay if the required DLL support is included within the patch - it should be.

Thanks for the info.. So opinions vary, but I see a lot people saying they have worse performance in ED with steam VR on 0.8, Is that down to ED not providing any updates? Reading forums for my other games like DCS/Assetto/Eurotruck, the devs continued to provide support and the games run better with 0.8

Just wondering if this patch means things will run better, otherwise I'd like to stick with 0.5

Cheers

Mr Selfish here is quite happy with things the way they are.

My PC is just adequate to run ED:H smoothly during > 99% of the time. One can safely assume it then it probably can't run CV1.

The other games I play are Crusader Kings 2 and Assetto Corsa. CK2 doesn't require VR and ED:H and AC work perfectly with my DK2 using 0.6 runtimes.

Consequently I hope DK2 users won't suffer! Boooooo! :p

The dk2 will work with runtime 1.3. The problem for now is that 1.3 will not be available from Oculus until Monday. FDEV are releasing their 1.3 patch now as tomorrow and Monday are UK holidays. This means if you are on .5/.6 or .8 runtime today's patch may mean having to wait until Monday to play. We will no soon enough if any of the old runtimes will continue to work with the new VR build. My guess is that the .8 steamVR method will still work. Not so sure about .5/.6.

So any chance we (and by we I mean the moderation team :D) could clean up the stickies? Stuff like the pre order info and news articles are irrelevant now.

That sounds like a job for next week, after SDK 1.3 drops. At that point we should be able to quickly figure out the best way to setup a DK2 (either with or without steamvr). Until then, I'm just hoping the update doesn't break my weekend of spaceflight.

going in-game in a sec, just need to bind my HOTAS again (and we all know that takes an hour ...)

Why do you have to rebind your HOTAS? I'd go nuts if i needed to do that after an update. Check your windows permissions or contact support, you can also make a backup of the bindings file.
