VR perf in 1080 compared to 980

Also I'm just throwing this in here.

I have also noticed on my 980ti, that I'm also just about maxing out my on board RAM.

Not my system RAM but the gpu RAM, so I am routinely using 5-5.5GB on my gpu.
And that's with pretty moderate settings.

So I believe anything with less than 6Gb of on board ram would throttle noticeable because of it.

Sorry for reviving this but how can you run ED with settings like this?
1.8 SS in SteamVR, 1.5 HMDQ, 1.25 SS...

I only run 1.5 SteamVR SS on a 1080Ti and an i7@4.7GHz and still struggling to hit 90fps.
In comparison, your total resolution upscale is 3.375 [woah]
