VR: Proximity Rendering?

Hi,

I've spent half an hour this morning trying to find answers on the web and have yet to find anything conclusive. I'm hoping you good folk can help shed some light on something.

My POV in VR, when reset to what feels like a good natural position, occasionally clips into the seat headrest when I'm looking around, most of the time in combat situations when I'm busy trying to follow someone more manoevarable than me. I think it might have been Project Cars 2 that had a VR setting to prevent drawing items in immediate proximity to the eye-point to prevent this sort of thing. I've not seen a setting within ED for this, could it be a text override like in the Graphics Override file?

Or has this yet to be a thing for ED?

Admittedly, I see similar threads where many have posted comments like "I've never had this problem" and "Sit further forwards". While these may both be valid solutions for those offering them, I suspect it's very much a case of 'Mileage may vary" since I definitley do get occasional clipping and the eyepoint is fine where it is until I begin to turn my head towards my shoulders or look upwards. To have have the eyepoint further forwards would be like having eyes on stalks.

I suspect that there is not (yet) anything like this but i figured it's worth double checking, especially since there's a lot of very clever souls in this community.

Thanks in advance,

Rob.

I do also get this issue, occasionally when just cruising around. I tend to not do haz res sites, but the other evening thought i'd have a go at one and the constant resetting of the view was unbearable. I put this down to performance, that my rig was not able to handle the game at the level I had it at, and the settings I was running, and kept crapping out with this view reset.

I've not done any further testing yet, but when just cruising around on cargo runs in solo it happens very infrequently, but when trying to do a haz res, and especially in open, its a complete crapfest, so i believe it to be a PC performance issue, or something closely related.

(oh... this could do with being in the VR section BTW ;) )

As Full_Ninja says.

Game the reset view. I do this in Assetto Corsa too. When I want to sit a little higher, I crouch down a little bit then press reset view.

In ED, you don't need to lean back much.

Hmm... Then this presents another niggle and I must decide which is the lesser of two evils.

If I tip my head back to do the reset, I may get the forward position that avoid the clipping, but then I'll have my eyes at the bottom of my rib-cage again. I find the only way to have eyes in my head, is to tuck my chin into my chest when I hit the reset button.

This may be a shortcoming of mine. I am not an expert by any stretch of the imagination in such matters and have much to learn still. I've run the Steam VR setup a few times with slightly different numbers and it always seems to come out the same at the end.

With a choice of sitting a shade too far back or much too low, I'll just suck it and put up with the occasional clipping through the headrest.

But, hey, 'if' someone in the development team should stumble through this thread and have a few lines on their jotter that need an idea, how about adding an option to toggle rendering items like the headrests to prevent any graphical anomalies?

Cheers.
