vr quest 2 on a ASUS TUF FA706IU

Thinking of coming back to ED with a quest 2, would my new laptop run it ok, and would the touch controllers be ok for me to play with, or some other controller be better, would prefer touch controllers if not to difficult to use. My laptop specs are

17.3" Full HD 120Hz Gaming Laptop (AMD Ryzen 7 4800H, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660Ti 6GB Graphics, 1TB PCI-e SSD, 16 GB

It should run OK, but CPU limited. If you can try to max out single thread CPU performance and under volt a bit to keep thermals in check.

You can try it with the touch controllers and this mod.

ok thanks for the reply, i would have thought that cpu was sufficient tho, as i used to have a desktop with ryzen 5 2600, and a gtx 1060, and this laptop plays my usual games with much better fps than my old rig. But no doubt the higher fps needed and running vr, my old rig would have suffered too.

Does the laptop's GPU have the built in encoders that were introduced with the Keplars? It looks like it is the full GPU by its model. All desktop GPUs have the encoders but sometimes the laptops use stripped down versions of the same card. It is often this encoding array that is removed presumably because nvidia reasoned streamers wouldnt use laptops?
The Link cable makes use of this encoder.

not sure, but having checked the stats, my gpu model is not far off the desktop version in benchmarks.

Would be a good idea to switch off power management for USB in Device Manager. This will kill your battery when not plugged into the mains, though.
