VR Questions/Problems

So it only happends with ED VR that sometimes that i see Grey color flash ingame,Was wondering if anyone els got this and know the fix for it mabye?
Also when i check the system map to see of a station have a outfitting or something els it wont show up in VR mode :( i only see info about the solar system but not whats on/in the station etc,idk if i do soemthign wrong or not but it's annoying to go to station and to systems just to find a outfitting etc.

And when using VR is tehre a way to go up and down in galaxy mabye? because i pressed all buttons i cant make it go up and down :(

P.S am using the Oculus Rift.

The flash of grey colour or desaturation is due to a momentary loss of full tracking. An easy way to see this in effect is to take off your headset and look at the screen, then put your thumb over the white sensor light in the HMD to activate it, then take it off again. You will note that it switches from colour to a more desaturated look when the headset is not activated.

The rear LED's in my first CV1 went after about 2 weeks and this is what happened to me when ever I turned to look behind me. Remarkably it still tracked my movement but obviously it did not have the full range of tracking available to it. I guess the Oculus software signals when there are tracking outages and this is how FD have chosen to visualize it in ED. I've had similar things happen in Steam VR, with it fading some games back to the Steam VR space momentarily when there's been a tracking blip.

I still get the occasional blip in tracking if I lean in too far towards my desk, as my sensor is currently perhaps just a little bit too high up for seated stuff. I could really do with some sort of webcam style monitor mount for it.

For details of stations and the services they offer, you need to select the station on the system map and make sure you are on the details tab on the left hand side info box.

As for the Gal map, I'm afraid that's just a case of going into the settings and configuring the controls for it, but yes you can make it go up and down. You are able to assign, move left/right/up/down/forwards/backwards, zoom in/out, yaw or turn left/right, pitch up/down, roll left/right (I think). Just like flight controls really. So I'd start with setting it up like you're flying the ship and tweak it to suit from there. Once you get a good control scheme setup, I find navigating the gal map in VR quite easy, more so than in 2D. On my HOTAS setup I use my stick to move forwards/backwards/left/right. A POV hat on my throttle control to move up/down and zoom in/out. And there's also a little analogue stick on the throttle that I use to yaw left/right and pitch up/down. That works really well for me.

I often get that (in both 2D and VR). It's as if the object is being deselected immediately after I select it. I have to 'nudge' my flightstick to get the cursor to move a couple of pixels and then the object is selected again and it shows the info. Could be the same bug.

How do you mean? i do use a sitecom flightstick but that does not work at all in the systems info menu i need to use my mouse and keyboard to move around there

You really don't want to be using the KB+mouse in VR, it's so much easier using a stick/HOTAS/gamepad a) because you don't have to find it (or the right key) each time and b) because the mouse is designed for a 2D UI not a 3D space. For your stick you need to bind the controls in the galaxy map section of the controls menu. I can't tell from your description if you're getting the same issue as me. And I've not had the major galaxy/system map issues that a lot of players had in 2.3, most of which appear to be fixed, but some players are still having issues...so perhaps your problem is caused by that bug.

And how come ED is the only VR game that does that grey/white blinky everytime ingame :(

Because only FD decided to implement a warning when tracking is lost by fading out the colors.

This indication of tracking loss is a feature that ED already had in the original beta. Back then in the DK2 days the tracking camera had a significantly narrower viewing angle than the CV1's cameras. So depending on the positioning of the camera you were much more prone to accidentally move your head out of the tracking area even while seated. Warning the player of this is a feature that made a lot of sense, especially when done in a non-disruptive way like this, compared to e.g. flashing a warning message.
Nowadays with multiple, wide-angle tracking cameras that's much less of an issue.

The question for you should be: Why do you have short moments of tracking loss every time? Something most be wrong in your system. I don't get those flashes.

I have just started getting these as of the 1.14 update. Lots of quick flashes of grey and then it will be fine for a few minutes, and then it starts again. I am also having issues in the galaxy map. It was all working fine until the 1.14 update. I now pretty much cannot use it.

I experiences gray ous as well. Solved it by closing the curtains, which made the room darker, no more teacking issues.

Does Anyone know a way to disable this indicator? Mine has started flickering like crazy and I cant play it that way. No other VR app has this problem, just Elite.
