VR Seating Position

I've recently bought the Oculus Rift and playing Elite Dangerous - absolutely amazing. However, for some reason, the seating position in my game has changed. When I load up I'm below the floor level and then, when I remove my headset and jiggle it about, I end up far too high.

I've updated the firmware and also the room settings. I've tried every measurement fro zero (headset on the floor) to 180 cm's (headset on my head) but no matter what measurement I use in the setup program it makes no difference - I always get the same outcome. The seating position looks fine at the Steam VR display but not in the game. I've no idea what changed because this was perfect before the weekend.

To make things worse, I can no longer launch Elite through he Oculus library - it says my account cannot be accessed even though this was also working fine before. There is clearly no issue with my account as the game loads through my normal PC and also through Steam VR - just cant paly it because my head is either above the ship ceiling or looking at my [haha]

Anyone else have this problem or have any tips?

Sit where you are comfortable and hit F12 to recenter positioning.

I personally like to have my POV a little above where the game centers you so I often slouch a little, hit F12, then sit up straight.

It’s f12 by default to reset view in elite but you can change it to whatever you want in control settings

My rift gets shifted about all over the place, I just look straight ahead and press my reset HMD button, you can change it in control settings.

Yep F12 is your best friend. Sometimes I just press it because it is there and I have nothing to do while supercruising. Not all games allow you to do that. For example, in Project Cars, your position is reset either at the start of the game or start of the race. Can't bind it to a button.

It is these little details that sets Elite above the rest. I was just about to post that Elite Dangerous is probably the best VR experience around period. Just my opinion...

That reminds me, I need to get some ship kits and paint jobs so I can put my money where my mouth is.

Yeah, remove and re-install will fix the oculus launch problem - I had that happen when I was troubleshooting an oculus disconnect problem.

as others have said, sit neutral, look ahead and press F12 to reset the HMD position. (notably - the window on your non-HMD desktop has to have mouse focus, or be in full screen mode)

I still have to manually set the sound to play out of my Oculus headphones before I start the game wheras before the last major update it did it automatically. My post about it on the bug forums was unfortunately collated with other people who had the same problem and dumped into the needs more info subforum and forgotten. As for the seating position: every time I start elite dangerous the first thing i have to do before anything else is reset my view. It defaults to the middle of the room where i was standing when I set the Oculus up instead of the front left corner of the room where I'm sitting when I use my computer. This minor inconvenience has been with me from the beginning and yet... After the last major update it seems like even the reset view is off, like I'm looking out from a little below and forward where my actual head would be like I was a hunchback.
