VR Settings Steam or in game ? WMR Odyssey Headset

Ok, been looking online. I'm using a Windows Samsung Odyssey in Elite and there have been so many fixes and tweak's i've lost my way a bit with settings.
With all the new Steam stuff am I better leaving Elite HMD and SS at 1.0 and increasing Steam to 200% ? (I7 GTX107o MSI Gaming Laptop)
Or use in game and leave steam in default ?
Also
Reprojections setting in steam have changed.... do I still change the config file manually or is there a steam setting.
Not been in VR for a while but getting back up and running this weekend so any advice welcome o7

Hey Delmonte,
Hopefully others will reply too but my 2p:

Ignore in game SS.
On your laptop card start with VR high settings and turn off AA, bloom, blur and depth of field
Set steam SS to 140 minimum

See how you get on with that for a start then play with Steam SS and in game HMD quality till you find your sweet spot.

Unless something's been added in the latest version you still need to use the text file for Steam reprojection. It's worth enabling the indicator too so you can tell when it's on and whether you're CPU/GPU limited.
Let me know if you need more info on that.

Amazed you stayed out of VR, I can't play ED any other way now. Good luck :)

Edit: and Dr Kaii's ED Profiler makes things a lot easier if you don't use it already.

For GTX 1070 with Odyssey I recommend HMD setting in Elite left at x1.0 and SS in SteamVR set to 150% then tweak the graphic settings to get the sweet spot. From my experience, Steam SS is far more efficient than using the HMD setting in Elite. If you use the reprojection, enabling the indicator is definitely worthwhile.
For tweaking the settings i highly recommend you get fpsVR (inexpensive and available on steam) and have reprojection OFF - this will let you see real time GPU and CPU usage in your HMD as you adjust the settings and see the impact.
Also worth experimenting setting the experience within Windows Mixed Reality to 60fps to see how far you can push the SS (200% is optimum if your system can manage it).
