VR settings

Wall of text.
I've spent many hours coming up with these settings for the best experience in Elite VR so thought I would share.
I have a Samsung Odyssey + also but find the Explorer to be a bit crisper on the text with these settings. When i'm in the menus anyway. The Samsung does have less SDE but at the cost of a bit blurrier text. In space the SDE isn't really noticeable on the Lenovo but the crisper text is a big thing (to me).
I ran like this when I had a Gigabyte Nvidia GTX970, AMD FX8350, 16GB 2133 MHZ GSkill memory. Only difference was I had to run 1.00 SS and 1.5 HMD quality. That was with the FX8350 running stable and cool at 4200GHZ on closed loop corsair water cooling, and the 970 bumped 200mhz on both clock and memory.
My new build is a Ryzen 5 1600, EVGA Nvidia 1070TI, and 16GB 3000 GSkill running at 3066mhz. I have the CPU running stable at 3800mhz on 2.750 volts, with the water-cooling she never stresses above 62c on Prime 95, Idles at 40C. That's on an ASRock AB350 Pro4 MB. My vid card is OC'd manually with Precision Xoc to +210mhzGPU and +220mhzMem. Vid card never gets over 63C.
So you have the basics, now to the nitty gritty. I run EDDI (so the assumably pretty gal can talk to me), EDSM to document my travels, EDdiscovery because it does the same and they link very well. Afore mentioned precision XOC. Then Dr. Kaii's EDProfiler.
Then launch SteamVR and EliteD from it's own launcher (not from Steam).
This order is important. Although you don't have to run EDDI, EDSM, EDdiscovery if you choose not to or have a little less computer.
Besides the overclocks Dr. Kaii's software is the important thing and the thing I've spent hours fiddling with. Here are my final settings, which should look great with any HMD. Just bright enough to have vibrant colors without washing them out and still crisp and clear text.
haO1AoA

This should work well with any HMD including WMR headsets, Oculus, VIVE, Pimax etc.
YMMV, But if you've read this far I look forward to "Seeing" you in space commanders, o7.

Always good to see what other people are doing, I'm going to try the Kevin colour preset. It's a real shame hte tone mapping doesn't work any more. Hopefully FD will change things to let that happen again, I did like A D's tone map.

For myself I've had a better experience leaving Elite SS at 1 and doing the supersampling either through SteamVR SS or Elite HMD quality. HeavyGroovez and A D talk about it here and here

My current settings:
Supersampling in Steam - 200%

Everything on ultra.

Text is sharp as razor. I had Acer VR before, and its much sharper now on Odyssey+.

A D Could you please expand on your use of 'Game Music Packs (procedural music)' ...... I'm interested in doing something like this but clueless ant the moment (currently use VA & HCS (Astra))....ta!

P.S. Also gonna try out your settings (similar rig except I have i7-4790k) BUT are they dependant upon your other graphical tweaks? (3DMigoto)

1. Game Music Packs offers a music player with content that works with VA. The latest exploration music pack (and bundle offer) includes "Audio Blocks 1.1" which is procedurally generated (as opposed to pre-recorded) music. Once the VA profile is installed just use the VA command "play audio blocks".

2. You can use the game and config override settings separately or together and with any changes you like. Just a matter of what looks good to you. 3DMigoto is not a graphics mod per se. It disables some cues in the game, but doesn't change the graphics. I use it because I like "hard mode" which removes object markers in space so I have to fly by cockpit instruments and eyes alone. :)

Fair play but what kind of FPS are you hitting?

I have reprojection turned on, so its 45 (repro on), and 90 if repro goes off.
Without reprojection i am hitting around 70-90 (cap).

WMR reprojection works pretty good imo, its better to turn it on than off. Smoothness effect is nice.

Kyokushin, could you please post a copy of your 'defaut.vrsettings' file? I'm a little confused over something (probably old, out of date prior info)

Many thanks

P.S. I seem to get a huge amount of jittering graphics when repro enabled in that driver!!

Running Oculus Rift on a slightly old rig that's been patched up a few times over the last 5 years.
AMD FX 8320 (Black edition OC at 3.8ghz)
Sapphire RX 590 8GB (Previously an R9 380 4GB OC to 1100mhz when in ED VR)
16GB Hyper X Fury

ASW can be a bit odd in auto when the frame rate is close to 90 but dips below sporadically. Menu selection highlights warping between what is an on/off highlight action is the main culprit. I have also seen warping around volumetric lighting FX too as AWS tries to determine what is a graphical change as apposed to a dropped frame.
Oddly, this never happened on my R9 380 running at SS 0.5 / HMD 1.5. The 590 is much smoother, running at SS 0.85 / HMD 1.5 with a few more graphics settings turned up to medium as apposed to low on the 380.
Made me realise what a diamond my 380 was, it was running OC over sapphires factory overclock for 2 years in VR. Never went above 75c which I consider fine for an hour or two of ED VR.
