VR Support for on foot gameplay - It's about time for this!

Now I would happily pay for a VR expansion to Odyssey but we all know that there are individuals who would point to the kickstarter and complain that it’s not a free update when the said all their updates would be free back then.

Heck, I’m learning VR development at the moment, if I get good enough, I’d volunteer to do it. 😀
I paid £90, what, over 10 years ago now to get all future expansions? I’d happily pay full DLC price for a VR expansion without thinking twice. I’ve spent a pile of cash on hardware upgrades over the years with ED as my primary VR motivator so an extra double-digit cost for a game expansion wouldn’t even register.

I hope you’re successful with your devving, once you get in can you also sort out the VR shadows and whatnot kthxbye 😁👍👍

I have hundreds of hours in ED (Yes yes, rookie numbers) ... but it's all in VR .... I have never played it pancake ... never will. I stopped playing when Odyssey was released without VR support. I am about to dive back in shortly. I'd thought I drop by and see if Odyssey had received any VR love, but it hasn't.

I would more the happily PAY for a VR update to Odyssey, I'd pay $100 maybe even more for such an update. It desperately needs it. But as it stands, I will never buy Odyssey because of lack of proper VR.

To my knowledge there was only a small period of time where Frontier had an actual VR developer hired. This dev left the company after the port to VR was completed. Rumor has it he also took the only VR headset with him when he left.

Frontier has made it pretty clear that they will no longer support VR, other than VR specific bug fixes.

On foot VR is just not going to happen, at least not within the next few years. They just don't have the capacity.
I wouldn't paint such a bleak picture, much time has passed since the initial slap-on VR effort that made Elite even have VR in the first place and now, where headsets are in million homes and very much on the radar of flight simmers out there. Fdev is well aware of the impact Elite has in VR and I bet they see how the game could maintain users by evolving it.
They were at least playing in VR in their offices at their own social event 7 months ago (source Fdev's LinkedIn).
