VR users need a way to turn IN SHIP lights OFF to better see the stars!!!!

First of all, DK2 + Elite Dangerous is the best gaming experience I've ever head. Best immersion yet. Stunning.

I decided to part ways with combat and trading and go exploring for fun in a decked out Adder (not quite at asp funds yet). While I am loving the immersion and views out the window, I can't exactly enjoy the black of space with all my in ship lights shining all over the place. It is a bit tough to see out the window and I am longing for my Cobra's "VR inside ship darkness" over the adder but even the c cobra I wish was able to toggle the lights on and off.

Even with turning the dashboard/interface brightness down you STILL have all the lights in the ship giving light pollution to the amazing views out the window into space. Now, I LOVE the cockpits of the ships in VR and love the lights they have aesthetically, I'm simply asking for us to be able to turn the in ship lighting etc down so that we can see out the window. Similar to pulling up to see the stars at midnight in your car or while flying in a plane, by turning off the indoor overhead lights etc you can see so much more outside.

People, is there any way we or the devs can touch on this.

Let's find a way to toggle the fabulous inside lighting off to better see the stars!

I'm in a Cobra, haven't found this to be a problem. Actually, I like to keep the star above me and admire the floor mat textures of my Cobra almost as often as I admire the stars, so I like some internal lights in my cockpit.

Although I don't have issues, I am down for a cockpit lighting dimmer. Pretty much standard in all sims

I'm tempted to add this to the Community Request List but first can you convince me that this is significantly more important for rift users as opposed to non-rift users to bother the devs with?

Are you playing with shows at low? At low it is al lit up like mad.
I don't see a cockpit lightning problem. Depending on the position of the sun my cockpit is very dark (with shadows at low it wont be).

Personaly i like the being able to look arround my ship but it would be a nice addition to user prefference settings.

I tend to agree in part with redmantab. We should have the ability the to turn off ship instruments; lighting ect. To decrease visibility and our signature, however small and to increase our viewing pleasure from within the cockpit.

I personally like looking around my ship too Fisher. ALOT! Simply suggesting that we have the ability to dim/turn down in ship lighting so that we can see the view out of the window in all of the VR greatness.

DRkaii I would love us to request this to be added to the game for us VR users. Yes, VR isn't as mainstream as all of the rest of the non oculus gamers in ED...but ED is THE game that showcases and is remembered for VR. Something that could most likely be added to the game with minimal effort such as this would be EVEN MORE immersive for an already awesome VR experience.

My cockpit brightness is set to the lowest setting and I have a dark green colour.

But yes.. as shutdown option would be cool. Also, make sure you are a fair distance away from any bright stars as these can diminish the amount of stars visible to you.
