VR view not visible in HMD since the latest patch

I've had a problem with VR since the last patch. When I open ED via the Steam 'homeroom' the HMD goes black (when the game launches) and I can only see the VR image on the primary flat monitor. I googled around and found a couple of possible solution from Reddit. The one that worked for me was to delete from \Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics the files Settings and DisplaySettings (depends a bit where that is, either in %appdata% or in steam Elite folder). However when I re-launch the game the HMD goes black again and I, again, have to delete the settings -files. I did make some changes in the graphics settings so maybe that is the issue - still it shouldn't behave that way. I will investigate a bit further and open a ticket if needed but wanted to first ask if others have had this issue after the patch, or even previously. Thanks!

I’ve had no problems since the last update though my setup is different: Quest 3 via AirLink, RTX 4070ti, Stand-alone launcher.
 
Looks like this was just a one-off problem, after I wrote the post everything has been working OK. Still, thanks for the replies!

Do you have any idea what the problem was? I have the identical issue. I have deleted a graphics settings file and reinstalled, to no avail.

Using Bigscreen Beyond, RTX 4090, SteamVR and Windows 11.

Sorry to hear that, it's really annoying problem. I have not tried to find the root cause after I got it working, been busy playing colonization and I don't dare to change anything in case it breaks again. I forgot to mention but I run win 11 as well.

What I did originally was re-install steam (did not help), re-install Elite via Steam (did not help, maybe since the settings were saved by Steam) and finally I deleted those two graphics setting files and that made it work again. I then went into the settings and tried to put the same ones I had before (from memory), starting with VR medium, changing anti-aliasing, changing texture and shadow setting, getting rid of motion blur etc. I also changed my flat screen view to full screen so that mouse pointer does not 'exit' play-area when playing (I use mouse/keyboard for on-foot and SRV stuff, flying is HOTAS).

Game worked with those changes but when I relogged in the next day the same thing happened, VR was not showing in HMD. I deleted the settings files again and the game started to work in HMD. This time, in settings, I set VR High and did minimal changes in the settings. Just changed antialiasing and HMD image quality to 0.85 (my set-up can't handle 1.0), kept the flat screen size as is etc. After that it has working OK, but once I need to to on-foot/SRV stuff I probably need to touch settings again and let's what happens. Don't want to do that for now, I'm also in process of getting new GPU.

I hope that helps, otherwise I don't really see any other option than opening a support ticket.
