Loving the 3.3 update! I've played a few hours already, and I've noticed some weird issues, omissions, and things I think could be improved. Obviously everyone at Frontier is running around putting out the server fires, but when that's calmed down, here are some future fixes to potentially look into.
- I can't seem to find my "Total Assets" anymore. This used to be in the systems panel on the right, and it displayed the total amount of credits I had in the bank and in ships/modules. It was super helpful when I wanted a new ship, dammit, and I wanted to figure out how many ships (or modules) I needed to sell to make it work.
- Now that combat and analysis are separate modes, I can bind scanners and weapons to the same firegroup, which is great! Until I get warned that one of the weapons or scanners won't work in the current mode, along with an annoying beep. It would be great if the warning and beep were suppressed if there are one or more items that are able to be used in the current mode.
- As a more general issue, I don't like the bits and pieces of text telling me what the keybindings are. In camera mode, sure, because that's not in-universe; but it's jarring to see text like "press Ctrl-Q to cancel hyperspace jump". These could be put behind an option in the settings, so new players would still get context-aware hints at what to do.
- The night vision "radar pulse" and the termination of the night vision glow are screen-space, so when I move my head, they shift around.
- The new FSS and DSS overlays are obviously just the 2D overlays placed in front of you. I'd love it if the size was increased and it was clipped in a circular shape. This hopefully wouldn't be too complex, and it would lessen the "looking at a screen" effect I get.
- Lots of 2D menus are still very low-poly. This is especially noticeable on the station screen and Holo-Me configuration panel (look at the bottom; you can see obvious kinks in the curved menu.)
- The system map and galaxy map work way better in VR now, which is great! But the line that points to the selected object is still drawn in 2D, on the virtual screen. Would it be possible to draw only the line in 3D? This is a tiny issue, but it's one of the things that makes it suddenly feel 2D while in VR.
- The FSS "rendering in" animation seems to be different for the left and right eyes. This makes it look like there are square bits popping out or in, and it's mildly uncomfortable to watch for me.
