Vulture. Feedback appreciated.

Hi.

I know ive seen a few of these but i like a bit of feedback on my vulture loadout.

Profession wise...I'm a merc more than anything these days. I go from system to system and ill fight for people. Specifically those who pay me for it. Recent events have made me popular with his imperial highness and ive a keen eye on the new courier ship that ive seen a bit of information about so ive decided to stick around and go kill whoever he points his holy finger at.

With that in mind hows this sound to you guys?

L: 3C/G Beam Laser
L: 3C/G Cannon
U: 0A Shield Booster
U: 0A Shield Booster
U: 0I Chaff Launcher

BH: 1I Lightweight Alloy
RB: 4A Power Plant
TM: 5D Thrusters
FH: 4A Frame Shift Drive
EC: 3D Life Support
PC: 5A Power Distributor
SS: 4D Sensors
FS: 3C Fuel Tank (Capacity: 8)

5: 5A Shield Generator
4: 4E Cargo Rack (Capacity: 16)
2: 1E Fuel Scoop

Im not on now and could be slightly off on sensors and life support. However Im running at about 107% in game with hardpoints out. FSD cargo hatch and fuel scoop and i have power for everything else.

Still waiting for my shields to go down. All i know currently is they can take one hell of a beating.

Set up pretty similar to my Vulture.
Works well, I can hammer large ships with the cannon, taking out sub systems once shields are down easily.
Smaller ships crumble under the beam, love the Vulture.
Cant use it currently, 8000ly from populated space in my Asp seeing the sights.

when i was less wealthy i ran 2 gimballed pulse lasers. They do work well on enough things. But i find it took too long to kill big targets. This setup melts anything i target.

I aim at power plants with my two pulses and boom one dead conda in a few minutes.

2 fixed beams, all A. Won't need anything else. Maybe a a slightly more fun boat after a couple of days of cutting through everything with yawns.

Excactly. I aim at power plants with my cannon and 20 seconds later. Boom!

Its less time for your shields to take hits because when a vipers shield breaks you know the drill. Life supports on inside seconds because of that lovely view and your turn tailing and heading for a dock somewhere :D

I use 2 x Type 3 Beams (Gimbled), on smaller ships they simply melt, on larger ships, I now always target the Power Plant, once the shields are down it does not take long to take out a Anaconda and Python.

Just wish they would increase the power plant a little more, say take it to upto 17.80, I think the current level is a little on the tight side considering some of the Class 3 weapons and Untility mounts consume, but careful usage of your modules setting can mean this ship delivers a massice puch.

I had similar, but with A thrusters and military bulkheads, the top speed on the Vulture is painful. Any combat ship requires a bit of creativity with power management if you're running lots of A rated bits.

I have to say I'm enjoying my switch to a Clipper for the power availability.

Everyone seems to have a preference for this ship. Me I prefer fix Beam and gimballed pulse laser. As prefer range and only come close for the kill or knocking off sub-system.

tbh its nice to see the replies are exactly what i wanted. Ive seen far too many of these pointing at the vulture being OP or that x ship beats it.

I have thought about the boosters. I agree im sacrificing a bit of movement for a lot of firepower. I have played with upper class thrusters and i didnt notice a whole lot of difference than i run now. Vipers can always run away from me no matter what if they go pips to engines so im ok with the trade off.

Also i rarely bounty hunt as of late. As ive mentioned im mostly PvE and if im hunting its deep in empire land currently so not worth traveling the 140 ly for 100k more in a vulture. I can only jump 16ly. Also killing a conda in an RES takes less effort than killing a viper in a conflict zone. Id rather take a reduced payout for more enjoyment out of the game.

Next step is likey going to be a FDL unless the clipper/courier tempt me to change my mind.
