Vulture Fight

Had a 2v1 fight with a vulture tonight. They're quite tough as you'd expect.

He interdicted a mate as he was on his way to meet me. Smashed up his viper in seconds, cracked canopy, thrusters busted,etc....left him for dead. 1.2 to the rescue, my mate did a reboot/repair and made it back. We winged up and went and found this guy.

So, viper and cobra Vs vulture. Didn't go too well for us.

He just locked onto the viper, and ripped him up in short order. I'm chasing, hitting him all the way (D2beam, F2 MC, 2x E1beam..or thereabouts) Only managed to get one ring off him. Not sure what he had on him, should've checked.

Anyway they're well shielded and quite quick too had trouble staying within 2.5km. My mate was boosting away, not a good tactic really I could've done with him coming back and bringing the vulture closer but it wan't my ship that was all smashed up again.

Excuses.....

My buddy had 2 fixed beams, I'm not convinced they're much good against a real person in a fighter. Unless you're the last starfighter.
My 3 beams were overheating, got an A4 powerplant.

Upside....we both got away ok and the repair cost now is a mere trifle.

Similar story, I got interdicted by a vulture in my clipper just a little bit ago. He demanded cargo, and I told him to stick it. He shot me to bits, so I dumped 20 tons of gold. He ended up letting me live.

The moral? Vulture ain't nothin' tamess with.

Thanks for sharing - very useful info. Was wondering how it handled vs players.

And since it's so good I'm sure it will be nerfed in short order.

It'd be nice if there were A,B and C spec weapons available although it's doubtful the lasers would run for long. In the absence of any ships between cobra and all the expensive ones some better weapons would be real nice.

We'll just have to play with our loadout and try again, some chaff would be handy I guess.

Hey! Feersum Endjin!

Let me see:
Twin C3 weapons + turns on a dime + A5 Shield only bested by A4+ FdL, B5+ Anaconda, A8 T-9 (barely) & A6 Python (barely).

That 22 M. Cr. (40M Cr. ish fully equipped) does not seem so expensive considering what you get. This thing trashes everything easily, if it's 10M Cr. nobody will fly anything else for combat...

Spot on. +1 rep for saving me typing all that.

I think to see it's true potential it need upgrading significantly. Basic Vulture probably not so good.

Kitted mine out for just under 60 million. Loving it.

As soon as one of us turned and ran we were finished. If we could keep all our guns on him it wouldn't take too long to cut the shields down. Like you say though, it can TURN and if you run it can keep up and sustain fire while soaking up damage up it's bumhole.

Keep close, chaff and fire is your best bet I reckon. Where are the 2 guns placed on it? Up top by the cockpit as usual?

Its fun to fly thats for sure, recharging shield rings is way too slow though, its just taken me over 5mins to recharge 2 rings with 4pips in Systems, and that wasnt from dead shields either.. doesnt seem right to me? may be better off running a Shield Battery instead of a shield booster.

It's nothing short of breathtaking. I've LITERALLY just done an assassination mission (Elite Conda, not FDS) in 30 seconds after landing on top of him. Then I spent 45 minutes... yes 45 minutes at a RES site and made 1.2m.

1.35m credits in an hour... Now I'm slightly more understanding of why it's 22m for the ship. Seriously, it's THAT good!

Did you have a shield booster? They slow recharge down.

I have dropped to one ring and it was less than 5 mins to recharge with only 2 pips.

The thing is a murder machine - I personally would kick of 5 mil ot make it tad more accessible.

But it's still worth the price.

Is the shield recharge rate reduction confirmed?

See, it appears to me that the recharge doesn't reduce. It seems to charge the same amount as it did, but due to there being more shields, it "appears" to slow recharge down. It just has more shield to repair, so it looks like it's slower. That's how it comes across anyway.

Krait?

We still need to fill that gap after the viper, wasnt the KRAIT supposed to be that filler ?

Nice to see some Large hardpoints in the sub 25M bracket, il need to do some more rares runs and flog off my asp's bits to give one of these a spin.

It's the new Emperors Clothes......l.o.l....or the new Viper replacement that just needs a little grafting to get, but if it's that good chaps......it's got to be worth the graft and small wait, then upgrade what you can and fight your way to your favorite Vulture spec chaps.

I've spent roughly 44m on mine (Got it at Jameson) and all I'm missing from an optimal build is mil spec bulkheads. It's like strapping a Viper & Cobra together and coating them in titanium/diamond composite.

I now understand why they aren't cheap, because if they were, this game would become Elite: Vulture.

Ahhh.. that makes perfect sense, never thought about it that way.. Ta :)

It is a proper little murder machine! Most fun i've had in the game so far. Just been cleaning up at RES, think i took more damage from debris than i did from ships lol. No idea how long i was there.. bailed out at 750k. Up until today I was mostly trading, over the last week i've been doing some combat in the Python to get ready for an increase in beatings, but this.. This is something altogether different! If you can afford a Vulture.. get a Vulture, if you can't afford it, sell your Granny, remortgage your house, whatever.. It is BOSS!!

Ive never used the word Boss before, even when i was young enough for it to be a suitable word for me to use.. its that frikkin good!

my build btw.. Vulture cant remember the total spend, but its just short of 2.2million Rebuy (currently running a 4A Dist, no 5A at Adams Orbital)

Personally, I wouldn't be so sure. They tend not to make up concept art of ships they don't intend to include at some point:

Ive been flying the Vulture non stop since the patch went live.

This thing needs to hit real hard with the nerf bat. Just weakening the shields would be enough. Its just way too tanky to ever die to anything. It is going to be THE go to ship for combat, is it stays as is right now there will be no other viable ship for anyone who wants to PVP.

Just lowering the shield strength is all it needs IMO. It needs to keep everything else it has to keep what is the core abilities of the ship. But until it becomes possible to kill the thing there will be no other ships to be found on anyone who can afford it.

Note: My opinion based only on PvE, I have not encountered any PvP situation yet with it. Maybe my opinion will change of I run into a skilled Anaconda pilot.
