Ships Vulture loadouts

Been messing with my vulture. Initially, as usual (too impatient) I couldn't afford a fat laser on it, so I put on 1 D2 gimbal beam laser and 1 F2 G multi-cannon. It was quite usable like that but in a warzone mission to kill 7 or 8 I ran out of ammo for the cannon. A single D2 laser is slow work...

anyhow. Upgraded it some more tonight, with C5 shield (up from E5), bigger power dist and generator and I put 2 D2 G beam lasers on. Considering the power distributor is still well under max, these work pretty well - you can get a real nice long burst before they run out of gas. Been in a warzone just now, mixing it with anything up to anacondas. The lesser ships, the 2 D2s take the shield down quite fast and aren't to shabby for taking out the power plant. I wasn't ever 1-on-1 with a 'conda, mind. But although not that big the lasers did some damage.

Now, back when it came out I bought a vulture (this one is #2) and I recall that I couldn't get the power to add up if I put monster C3 lasers on it - could only get 1, so I had some kind of cannon on the other side. I've still got some way to go on upgrading this one, once I earn some more credits.

What do other folks have on the Vulture, and why?
 
2x C3 Gimballed Pulse and target the power plant. It's unreal how fast stuff dies and they are so cheap to buy.

I've dropped back to twin pulse lasers from twin class 3 plasmas (it wasn't optimal but it was funny)... I've managed to get class A shield and shield booster thrusters powerplant/dist fsd D life support and scanners plus KWS and chaff and a FS interdictor.

It takes clever play with priorities in power management but works for me.

I find with gimbals I rarely if ever lose a laser shot on my targets.
 
Bought one a couple days ago. As obvious, you want C3 on this baby. Pulse is good, Burst is fixed only (right guys??) and Beam is very nice but it sucks up your plant fast. There's also fragment, PA and cannon. Never tried the cannon but for the big slow hit approach PA must outperform it. Trying Gimbal Beams right now and i like it a lot. I still may switch them for pulse anyway since you can fire them indefinitly with 4 pips in weaps. PA is indeed interesting and Frag must also be when you're close and personal with your target. The thing is that Lasers don't consume ammo and C3 lasers do a very nice amount of damage capable of melting all kinds of targets. With such weapons, choosing something ammo based in the Vulture will just reduce the time amount you stay inside RES or CZ's. It would be a different story with C2 weaponry.

So in sake of effectiveness you can choose between lasers. Oh and lasers :p

2x Pulse or Burst Lasers with 2x shield boosters (A with pulses, C with bursts, for power management) and 5C shields. Kills everything fast. Bursts are fun, but you can't fire them indefinitely like Pulses.
 
Slap on a 4E/4D Fuel Scoop and jump range becomes irrelevant. Although, 15ly is plenty enough to get from one side of civilized space to the other.

... unless you wind up on a course that takes you through more than 3 systems with brown dwarfs.
 
I'm having a blast with one class 3 gimballed beam and one c3 gimballed cannon. The beam takes care of anything Cobra-size down in seconds - other Vultures too actually. Anything bigger then I use the beam to zap the shields and the cannon on the engines. Boom! Requires power management and nice prioritisation but pips in weapons the beam can go long time. Then pips in engines to stay in behind.

I first started off with twin gimballed C3 Beams like I had in my Viper. Beams are great against small ships - they're destroyed before you run out of juice. Bigger ships take more time. I got tired of waiting for the capacitor to recharge.

Switched to gimballed C3 Burst. These felt absolutely worthless in my opinion. Took longer to charge than the beams and felt like they did much less damage when fired.

Changed to C3 Pulse and will never go with anything else. Insane how powerful they are. After a terrible accident in my Vulture and going bankrupt, I had to fly a Viper for a while and loved the pulse loadout so much that i went to 4x Pulse in that too...I was able to group a C1 and C2 into a group and fire continuously with half my weapons. I loved not having to reload the miniguns every 10 minutes. CZ or RES farming is a piece of cake in a Vulture with 2x C3 Pulse. You can stay on site indefinitely.

Yeah i know. One eye in the galaxy map and the other in the stars we can manage it. Spent many time in a Viper like that. But i just came from a two week trading route with plenty of fuel and jump range. I'm too lazy right now for scooping xD

Humm. Might be interesting switching that cannon for a PA. Gotta write that down for testing later today.

2x E3 Pulse Lasers
4x C0 Shield Boosters

The Pulses run for long enough to do what I need before they need to recharge. The 4x C0 Shield Boosters are obviously for tanking. I've come up against Conda's and run though about 2-3 of the Shield Cells (depending on how good I can evade the Conda's fire). It's a very nimble ship.

Fitting it is kinda tough, and I haven't seen any C3 Pulses around... sure would like to try em.
 
Double Pulse is suprisingly good and for some reason has more DPS than Dual Bursts. If you want to really hit things though, you could try Dual Beams.

I do have a question here though, A5 Shields or A5 Thrusters?

It's a beast of a machine.. (I would upgrade the FSD but it's hard to find one)

*Edit* - a little tip for those that don't know ... If you are running twin Pulse lasers, a great thing to do is set a second fire group to just fire one of those baby's, which if you have both A graded power units will recharge your PWR bar whilst firing so maintaining continuous fire whilst you build up your PWR to unleash the full power of this space stati... wait. .. your duel pulses... constant fire people !

Really liking bursts on the vulture, kill off power plants in next to no time. Just made over a mil in bounties in about half an hour, beats trading any day.
 
that was kinda my point. If you could build it with 2x C3 beams, it would thrash anything flying. However, I at least couldn't get the power to add up. dual D2 beam is in fact quite effective but I'll try the C3 pulse as others seem to like it.

If, of course, I can find 'em. Anyone care to list huge pop high tech systems? I spent quite a while searching the galaxy map and never found one.
