Vulture weapons, Gimbled or fixed pulse or beam

Hey Guys and Gals,

Had gone to a station last night, and had noticed it was selling the usual E3 Pulse lasers gimbled and fixed (D3/F), okay i get the fixed have more damage output, and less power consumption, and are cheaper, but are the fixed ones harder to shoot anything?

Currently I'm using the E3/G pulse lasers for RES Farming, BH and assassination missions, would the D3/F be any better for my farming and A/BH missions?

Now i am aware for PvP people use the C3/F Beam lasers, does anyone use any of the pulse lasers mentioned above for PvP?

Down to personal pref i'd say.
With a nimble and manuvarable ship like the vulture, I use fixed pulse lasers.
Cost less, fire more & hit harder...
If you can't aim for S#%&t, go gimbled 8)

I fall into the "can't hit anything for toffee" category, so have always used gimbals (where available).

E3/G pulse are all you need for RES BH. You can keep the trigger squeezed for 30-40 seconds continuously without overheat, and then they'll recover in less than 5 seconds (provided you have A5 power distributor). Keep very close range, perpendicular to the target, and use vertical thrusters plus forward-back adjustments to stay there. (Always use central-zero on a throttle lever; never use a reversing switch.) And really, if you need more than 40 seconds in a RES farm, you're targeting an Anaconda without having let the local police wear it down first!

For one-on-one combat, it's a different story. You have no help. Your target will be evading more. You'll not be in so close range. You're not going to get sustained shots so much. So instead you have to hit harder for a shorter time. That's when you need beams and/or fixed. On the other hand you need a different combat skill-set for this: you don't need to hold position like described above, but you do need quick and accurate targeting. If you're not good at that, then you'll need gimballed, but then you'd be much better in a RES.

Fixed Pulse lasers on a Vulture. Beams take too much power so you need to compromise either the thrusters or the shields. They also have too high a EPS.

my favourite set up is large beam gimballed , and canon fixed to finish off big targets like python or conda .
