Vulture, weapons loadout for quick kills

If you are going for Elite that says to me a lot of time in combat zones, don't want to reload too much. With the Vulture that says to me power and heat issues.

Therfore, I'd go dual pulse lasers, they have good module sniping capabilities and are decent against shields. Target powerplant and enemies will die.

There is no easy way to Combat Elite, Vulture is a Great Ship, but its no match to a Bigger ship like the Clipper, but it all depends on the pilot and his piloting skills, you might not be the best pilot in the universe, but if you have good shields and good thrusters you can stand in a fight longer, then again if you are a very good pilot, then you can cut back in the shields and get better weapons, but Remember, never but never, have less Credits than needed to re-buy your ship, or you'd find yourself grinding back to buy a vulture !

That's my all around fighting loadout on E:D Shipyard

I'm mainly bounty hunting so if I'd be to jump into CZs I'd ditch the KWS, Interdictor and Fuel Scoop to fit another D rated Shield Booster.
Handles great, eats Pythons and Anacondas (up to Master) for Breakfast and there's really nothing you can't handle if you're as good (that's not very!) as me in PVE.

I agree with everything you wrote except for this.
We are talking about the Vulture here. The Vulture is a heavy fighter that can take on every ship in the game.
It eats Clippers for breakfast and Anacondas for dessert :).

I am stricktly talking about npc's, mind you. But even pc's in Clippers and Anaconda's might have a hard time against a Vulture.
Especially the Clipper is a relatively weak ship even in combat zones. They are destroyed in no time.

Title says it all.
Against anything:)
I kill stuff in my Vulture, to make ELITE status........want to do it as fast as possible:)

Be smart with power management and the Vulture is a wonderful fighter.
For example: Set your FSD to low priority to switch it of when weapons are deployed.
I use 2 large pulse lasers on my Vulture and I removed all cargo space to enhance my defensive capabilities.
I wouldn't use a Fuel scoop as it serves no purpose in combat, and you do not need it to get around if you plan your travels smartly.

A word of warning once you have your new Elite combat rating, all NPC battles are likely to be harder.

So if you decide to start trading or mining take this in to consideration when building/buying ship.

Dual pulses - most universal choice.
For CZ-s i prefer dual PA as it kills big ships really fast, and in CZ there is always a choice what to shoot at. You need to reload from time to time, but if CZ is close to station it is just a good chance to take a break for few minutes...

I agree! I have tried all sorts of loadouts, I used to run with a Gim Pulse and a Gim Canon (Fixed Canon so inaccurate, not worth bothering with). However, after playing one of the Conflict Zone CGs I swapped my loadout and found that the best loadout against PVE in order to get the most kills and biggest payout in credts and XP over a fixed period of time was easily the combo of 2x gimballed Pulse lasers, Class A shield. Dist and Power, chaff, Shield Booster and as many SCbanks as you can fit - I had 3 installed and powered 2 of them off until the first ran out then i would power the next one on, that way I could stay out fighting untill all my chaff was gone and all banks used up, as soon as I lost my shield I flew back to get re-armed with banks and chaff and I was usually making over a million credits over this period. When I used Pulse and a canon, I was out of canon ammo after 300-500K credits income. So basically with 2 x Pulse you can expect to last 2-3x longer in combat and the Pulse is a great weapon, just because its cheap doesn't mean its bad!

Small tip, use B rated shield cell banks instead of A. Although B rated items are usually amongst the worst for most components, for SCB's they have 1 additional charge compared to A rated. So although each shot recharges slightly less, it overall gives more shield regen ability. This simple change then gives you enough spare power capacity to improve your thrusters from D to A, which makes a big change in top speed.

Yes good tip re- the Banks, however, I disagree about the Thrusters, they arent important aginst PVE (yes against players for running away or chasing). I only use C class thrusters and to be honest in combat i usually have 3-4 pips to weapons and 1-2 on Sys with none on engines and its unstoppable, when you want to boost then just push pips to engines, leabe engines charged after your boost then switch pips back to weapon/shields. You dont need to try hard to run from NPCs or to catch them!

they still seem the same to me, in a RES anyway - still seeing the same mix of ships and skills as before.

dual C3 gimbal pulse is the easiest - just point and shoot until the target dies. power management is much easier with these

in the CZ i prefer 1 C3 gimbal pulse and 1 C3 gimbal beam - it kills quicker overall but requires much more attention and work from you because it empties the cap so quickly, you can't afford to waste any of your shots. the power management is also much more extreme - luckily you don't need cargo hatches, KWSs or other fruit in a CZ. max hitting power, max survivability, nothing else.

Main disadvantage of beam+cannon setup is lower shield DPS and a lot more luck involved in taking out subsystems than with just 2 pulses.
Used this loadout a lot, and overall it seems less efficient but somewhat more fun than 2 pulses.
Also A shield on vulture is questionable, there is not enough power for A shield + boosters, you can use D shield + boosters to get similar shield (even a tiny bit better) and save some money and weight.

I use A shields plus A Booster and 3 sets of SCBanks (1 on at a time) no power issues if you use Pulse Lasers or Pulse plus canons and prioritise some stuff like FSD etc.

rubbish the vulture is a dedicated combat ship i have never struggled killing any ship in it including condas

LOL, I never read his post, how laughable! The Vulture as you say is a pure combat ship and even a noob in a Vulture can take out any ship in the game, with a little courage and experience you can take out Elite Conda Pirate Lords in 3 ship wings with little trouble - just a few scratches!
.
The only issue with the Vulture is the lack of Power and space to fill with SC Banks. Larger ships have the advantage of more spare power capacity and the ability to squeeze in more and larger SC banks. This is helpful especially fighting Players, not so much against NPCs.

I cant say it better than that.

Definitely not with 5A thrusters... and yes, thrusters are just a matter of personal preference.
But anyway you can use up to 4 shield boosters, more than enough to use all available power even with lower-grade shields. It is just worth looking at, D shield + varied amount of boosters give better flexibility and are cheaper and lighter than A shield. And there are no disadvantages other than more utility slots used.
