Vulture - What to use it for?

I've just upgraded my Cobra to a Vulture (still got the Cobra) and I wanted to do a bit of bounty hunting and maybe pick up some merits but the Vulture only has 2 gun points, where the Cobra has 4.

What does everyone use their Vulture for? And what hard points do you have?

Combat.

Those two hardpoints are large hardpoints. They pack a big punch - dual Class 3 Gomballed Pulse Lasers do a great job shredding other ships.

The Vulture is a great bounty hunting and combat ship. You'll have to equip it carefully, focusing on combat-oriented modules, but it's nimble and dangerous - it can take out the biggest, most expensive ships, as long as you're good about keeping right in the enemy's blind spot with that high agility. And that means it can position easily to disable power plants on big, dangerous ships.

Vulture is the biggest little ship in the vast, black sky.

Combat. The Vulture is useless in any other role.

For the price, a Type-6 beats it in trading, DBX beats it in exploring, Cobra beats it in versatilty, etc.

I don't. Sure, it's a killer. Sure, it is nimble. Sure, it has two class 3 slots. I think after dealing with the power issues, and really the "best" loadout being 2 pulse... I got very bored with it.

The Vulture is an attack-dog. It eats ships many times it's size. With two large hard points, you can use Beam + Mult-cannon or Plasma + Pulse or just 2x Pulse and do a lot of damage. Plus the ship is very fast and agile and a lot, lot tougher than a Cobra.

It's a pure-bred fighter.

Need some gimballed guns and they're quite expensive so going to keep grinding the merits.

Thanks for for the info chaps.

Ok so I got my vulture about a month ago and tried lots of setups.
Concentrate on the power plant and capacitor power issues drove me insane early days.
I'm a bounty hunter and have gimballed pulse's, kws , chaff and electronic counter.
I choose pulse's so I don't have to reload and stay in res forever..
I have class 4 b shield gen which hardly goes down with good pip management.
2 hull reinforcements one class 4 one class 1
Docking computer coz I'm lazy no other reason.

Great ship, agility is second to eagle (hilarious they drop like flies anyway)
I regularly take down clippers, pythons, FDL, anaconda mostly with help though.
Big tip for the big ships, sub target power plant before you engage and try and stay as close as possible (I'm usually almost touching)
Targeting the power plant I have seen them blow up at 10%.

Love this ship I can make around 4mill in 2 hours high res lone wolf.
I stick close to feds just in case things go south.

Happy hunting.

shooting things

ramming things(with the right upgrades)

shooting more things

2x pulses sometimes a pulse/multicannon

sometimes a pulse/cannon

all gimbed

I swear by the vulture even though its castrated due to power issues

I'm only a month into the game and have spent my time bountyhunting in high res to upgrade my cobra so I haven't yet flown the vulture, but I am also interested in changing ships and curious about this thread. I mean no offence and I don't want to sound as if I'm bragging but everything you said I actually do very well in my Cobra apart from one thing, I make half the amount, probably because I spend half the time returning to the station to reload my cannons. All ships big or small Explode, especially with security help. so technically speaking, is the vulture a real improvement to the Cobra ?

A well worded response. In my opinion, the vulture is an improvement in agility and very little else. The 2 hard points, while large, mean very limited weapon options given its power issues. This ship, while great for many, just doesn't suit my style. And that is the key. Some will love it others won't. It is a very personal decision. I would say shield wise and firepower wise it likely is "better" than your cobra, but that will be a matter of perspective. Also, when viewing people posting how much they make per hour bounty hunting, keep in mind they may get a bonus from being aligned with certain PP leaders. I don't take anyone's stated credits per hour as being neccesarily attributable to the ship they fly.
