w.t.bleeping-bleep?

self-explanatory,..

typo? some kind of proximity function?
most bookmarks did not look like that, but those near my current location, did.

possible indicator of the cause?

I think this either means the interstellar police is on to you for bookmarking those children, you slimy devil,

OR, it may (does) mean children in the context of the hierarchy of the star system to its planets and such.

It seems to hint that you have a bookmark on one of the bodies in the system and not on the main star which is highlighted in the galmap

When devs are allowed to write the screen text :)

It's a pretty common terminology in programming to talk about parent-child relationships when referring to something (parent) containing other things (the 'children') - so a system (parent) has bookmarks on it's bodies/statoions etc (children). Of course this is confusing to non-techies, so you'd expect it to be presented on-screen not as 'Bookmarked Children' but something like 'Contains Bookmarks' (I think that would read better).

I seem to remember in 'Legacy' and Horizons (pre Odyssey) if you clicked on a System to bookmark it you would get the full bookmark Icon. If you then went into the System map and bookmarked a Planet, Star, whatever in that system, it displayed the Icon with the 'arrow' added.?
I think this was reversed sometime when the map in Odyssey was updated?

Anyhow this confused me a little when I first noticed it. Yeah, and the 'Children' was initially confusing as well. 🤷‍♂️
I've looked in the bookmark management menu to see If I could swap the Icons about to what it originally was but I couldn't find any way of doing this....no big deal though. 🤷‍♂️

mmm, that was my thought too, although i'm pretty sure in astronomy a different term is used,

sub-system object? ( of system objects )

Looks like a coincidence ... almost all of the ones i've got that are of sub-locations were near where i was, inside the human-core bubble.

I bet this doesn't happen to explorers!
