Waiting for 1.2 - please no emphasis on group missions

Make the missions hard enough you may need a group. Problem solved.

ED missions are sorely lacking in content, difficulty, or variety, and someone says "group missions" are icky because they will break his version of a 4th wall?

Makes me want to reach through my monitor. As long as they keep the horrible USS system, the 4th wall is torn down, burned, and used as landfill. We need other things to do besides look at the landscape and make stupid amounts trading.
 
I think being able to hire NPCs to escort my shieldless Type 9 would be great! :) (as long as it is cheaper than running with a shield...after all, trading is all about profit!)
 
I said this on twitter earlier, and I'll say it here:


Wings - Ideally co-op play and stuff to do.


But the reality, without co-op missions will be:


Wings - Gangs will hunt down traders and explorers and push more to solo.


Unless the content is there to support non-PvP wings, they will only be used for PvP.

Also beyond open/group, unless they also implement AI Wingmen then I doubt this feature will provide anything of any use to solo players.

Who IMHO Frontier shouldn't be pandering too anyway - but at the same time the reality is it exists so everything in this game needs to be designed to fit all environment (the petard that Frontier hoists themselves by).

I like this post. both for its views on wings with which I concur, and for the Shakesperean reference that will not be recognized by many on these fora. Repped.
 
Can we please get some more single player content too? You more than the same four missions over and over or the same half dozen copy and pasted "locations" in systems?

Yep, yep to that too! I'm still fairly new to the game, so I can find something to work on my proficiency (yep, even mining).

I've arrived from another space shooter, where Colonials and Cylon squad and wing together to destroy the other. Not sure we need that much pvp in E.D., but the squadding would definitely help in escorting traders (or conversely, multiple pirates showing up).

I'd really like to see a shared loot (or participation goodies) for some of these community events. I haul over to Banki, and it's like a sausage-fest of hollow triangles. I separate a bit, find an enemy combatant, and before the fight is through, there's three more CMDRs firing up my target. They get the kill, I wasted my ammo, and on a couple of occasions, turned red, as the goofballs are trying to ram the ship to kill it's last few HP points, and I shoot them. I'm pretty good with trigger control, but hard when the goofball boosts from behind you and drops right into the line of fire...

Even partial loot (or community participation points) would be welcome.
 
As someone who LOVES co-op I fully agree with OP. If the missions added were such that they could *just* be completable by a single good pilot in a good ship but had the option to be completed by more pilots, that would be great. I'd even love to see the current conda kill mission have that option.

As NPCs are the only Ships that ever turned Green on my scanner and I could always trust my NPC allies - NPCs would be the only ones I would ever accept on my Wing.
I'd happily provide them with all the Ships and Equipment they need - and pay for their Training to level-up where needed.

If that planned Wings update will only be a tweaked "Group Play - redux", I won't touch it with a stick.
Reason : I don't trust Players. Ever.

That's what the Devs wanted - that's the toxic Universe with its poisonous rules they created - so this is what they get...

Sorry, couldn't resist. It's quite easy to find a trustworthy player if you try.
