Waiting for a contact.

One of the things I find very annoying is when you go for an assassination mission and go to the the system scan the beacon and then get told to go somewhere else to contact someone you wait for hours for them to show up you then chase after them folow them down then get to go back to where you were.

Now this waiting emmm I have waited for 50 mins Nought.

But exit game then come back 10 seconds later OHHH there is your contact. What a load of rubbish, waste of time.

Now I realise there will be players saying it is all part of the EMERSION. Sorry I hate the waiting it supposed to be 3303 should the tech not be more reliable?

Example:-

Go find Taget 09/08/2017 15:44:21 61 Cygni

Scan Then says go here :-

09/08/2017 15:45:20 Kruger 60

Given location go back here:-

09/08/2017 16:07:13 61 Cygni

Mission ended at 16:10:03

But it took
22 minutes and 52 seconds

To get coords?

That is not a grind I want.

Take my word for it - you're doing it wrong.

Go to the indicated system, use an Advanced Discovery Scanner or Scan the Nav Beacon if you don't have an ADS.
If you're told to meet a contact in that system, just hang around outside the nav beacon in Super Cruise. They'll send you a "Don't panic" text. Lock on to them and wait for them to low-wake, Follow that wake.
The contact will tell you where to find the target Somesystem, Somebody.
Fly to that System, fly to that body, and circle it. I prefer counter-clockwise, starting at the edge of the dark side. You'll get a Mission Update, and your target will be there.
Drop in, blow them up, fly back to your mission giver.
Done.

The most time I've ever spent on one of these was perhaps six minutes, four of which were reaching the target body.

Yes Sir totally agree that is what I do. The ADS is a useful tool. The Contact in the secondary system comes up usually almost immediately. But sometimes disappears then does not come back up till a restart is performed. I do not know why. I have done lots of these types of missions but thought I would high-light this one as it was such a period of no action.

The problem I have is this when jumping into secondary system the informing ship sends message saying they have information for me. But cannot find it on scanner. But When I ESC and then re-load said ship then annouces itself again but now shows on the scanner? The example I gave in the original message seems to have been an extreeme example, but never the less happened!

I've done probably a hundred of these. You don't have to fly anywhere, just get close to the target body and sit and wait. Contact always appears, usually inside of one to five minutes. More than once, it took 20-30 minutes, and one memorable time it took nearly an hour because I dropped out of SC too early on a late blooming target, and then they took another 20 min to show up again.

I like the idea of bouncing out of the game and back in--kind of curious to see if that will force them to pop predictably. Will probably give it a shot this weekend.

@ FD: if this is rng on the systems that the contact redirects you to, don't you think that you should exclude the original system? :)

Yes Feel it is an unnecessary step, I think it hang over from from prevuios update. Maybe Fdev think moving you around gives the player scope?
