Waiting for the aliens...BBQ or massacre

I popped over to said planet to see what is the big fuss about this alien ship and I found many other commanders (somewhere between 10-20) waiting there parked around the site. The wait turned out to be a long one 3-4 hours, but we entertained ourselves with some doing an air-show for us, SRV tricks, talking about ELITE and other things, I ended up farming meta-alloys, so it was pretty good time there. And in the end the aliens did come. That was on mobius.
We logged off and on periodically to see if that helps summoning the alien ship and I checked in open play once to see what it is like for the ones that want to play the game as FD intended it to be.
LOL. There was one lonely ASP parked by the site and a Fer-de-Lance howering over it, that was soon shooting at an other ship that came and tried to land.

I just thought I'd share it, it was very amusing.

Yeah I've seen the aliens twice - one from a distance (a cliff top) and one from a front row seat (in my SRV, on the barnacle itself). After the 2nd time, I figured I would do something else, but still decided to hang around with other CMDRs in Mobius, doing stupid stuff to pass the time. That has been the surprising thing about these events - the aliens appearing is still desirable, but I'm happy just knocking around with other players who aren't trying to kill me. Like we are all part of some group therapy. ("Hello, I'm CMDR Geiger and I was once probed by an alien flower ship...and I hope to be probed again!")

That's the problem with mobians. Even carebears get bored and shoot at each other. PvE sucks, and it's only a stepping stone to real combat. SJA bots are lame.

Yes, thank goodness. My heart was literally in my mouth. People need to be a lot less reticent about discussing Open vs Mobius and get it off their chest. It's not healthy to bottle it up.

I play in Mobius or other PG's because...

Y'all have crap connections.

Every single venture into Open, it's ships skipping across the stars like stones on a pond, rubberbands like a braces-convention, dropped connections, failed matchmaking, and lag, lag, lag.
Drop into a PG, and it's nearly non-existent, save for that one person who still believes playing across a VPN will either keep his IP information private or will somehow magically improve his performance (it never will).

There, that's off my chest now.
