Wake suppression - the end of highwake?

Audit records from the MetaDrive Inc., acquired by the Sirius Corporation last year, have been leaked into public data silos by persons unknown.
While the majority of the data is unremarkable, one record mentions 'wake suppression', prompting some commentators to speculate on a possible connection to MetaDrive's work on hyperdrive systems.

A spokesperson for the Sirius Corporation responded by saying:

"We do not typically comment on leaks of this nature, but we can certainly allay any fears that the Sirius Corporation is conducting experimental hyperdrive research. The document in question simply refers to research into sleep-management technology for long-haul travel."

Hm. Looks like there may be more surprises for us in the near future?
I don't think this is related to any mysteries, rather it may be a huge gamechanger for PvP & PvE combat.
No more quickly jump to the next system to get out of the mass inhibit.

Oh dear, time to check my insurance.

Maybe a trick to jump out with a missing or garbled wake signature to shake pursuers.

Oh, that didn't even cross my mind. Hm, sort of prevent someone from picking up and scanning the wake-cloud.
Perhaps both types of technologies then. Offensive & defensive techs for both sides.

Dang, we need more slots :D

I think the sleep management part is a hint - look at the old elite manual. I believe this is the thing that Ed was excited about and it's the end of low waking, not high waking. No more supercruise transitions.

Please elaborate! :O

If that ends up being the case, I would like to imagine we'd still have the option to engage supercruise. On the other hand, I almost have to assume you're joking xD
Though, if they did make it more like Star Wars I wouldn't be say anything... *salivates profusely*

I'd be more than a bit surprised if they added a new wake mechanic out of the blue. High and low wake signals both serve valid purposes. I mean, wake suppression implies that you don't leave a high wake when jumping out of system, or you don't leave a low wake signal when dropping out of supercruise. The latter option especially would be a "get out of interdiction/piracy/greifing free" card.

And the supercuise transitions do serve a purpose. Some PC's (like mine) need the pause to load new assets. It can also take time for the data to be fetched from the serves.

My money would be on some kind of tech revolving around the "hyperdiction" we experience a few months ago. A way to counter them if the Thargoid interdictions scale up.

Could it be an FSD modification special effect? I believe that one of the devs mentioned that they were considering adding them to modules other than weapons.

Another possible explanation is that it could allow wake scanners to scan the suppressed wakes that the flower ships leave. This change of course, will only be available from an engineer acting as a content gate so that only Horizon players will have access to it for now.

Did you see DBs video from Pax? All that talk of 'possible' interdictions, and 'did it really happen' followed immediately by a video of it happening.
Seems to me that the original plotline had us wondering if there was instead of thargoids, a massive conspiracy, and this snippet is part of that.
Nobody but the deranged is falling for it.

Eh, I think he was just in character with in-game authorities. None of the superpowers have publicly confirmed the alien's existence. I mean, the initial discovery was treated exactly like a bad conspiracy/spoof: lots of disbelief and rationalizations. If thousands of players hadn't run out to the same place to trigger the event a thousand more times, I doubt many players would believe in the hyper-diction. Even with the screenshots and videos the discoverer provided.
