Walking around my ASP [Video]

Thats really awesome! Have some rep!

Also, if you dont mind- next time the enemy smashes your canopy glass, stick your head out of the hole, preferably while in the supercruise, or even better during the hyperspace jump :D.

My dog loves it, while in my car, it must be great!

Thanks for sharing that, trying to decide if i should purchase an Oculus, that does help.

Amazing video, you should try the Type-7 Bridge, it feels like you are walking around inside a huge factory. What software did you use to record?

Cheers

I will have to give it a go. I am also wondering what it will feel like to put the ship into a spin and then walk around the bridge. :D

I want to try all the bridges eventually. I know the Type-9 was very nice, looking forward to seeing the Type-7. I used Open Broadcaster Software to record.

Thanks for sharing :) - one little suggestestion though: I'd double the resolution of the second window and record a 16:10 window of it - sure - it'll cut off the top and bottom, but you get rid off the black sidebars.

Thanks for the suggestion I will give it a try. Would probably look better than the square box format :)

Very cool view and nice little exploit/effect using the Oculus. I will get one eventually but waiting for full release.

I want the Asp too but will be awhile yet....

I think it does - here's a sample I recorded using the technique for a bug report:

That's great. What resolution did you set in the config file for the 2nd window then?

No motion sickness in Elite. But I do get it in FPS games.

The cockpit gives focus reference so whilst space outside the ship is moving, the interior of the ship is stationary. Just like being in a real vehicle.

I use 1440*1620. The bottom will be cut off on a 1080p screen of course - I then just adjusted a recording window that's roughly 16:9/16:10 starting just above the lower end of the screen. I guess higher resolutions would be possible even on my outdated system, the only issue is that even at this resolution, it looks as if I'm constantly slightly looking up when recording from a normal flight situation, because it cuts off more from the lower end than the upper one. With an increase in resolution, that effect worsens for obvious reasons.

I thought about just flipping a screen to avoid the problem altogether, but as I just use youtube for uploading random snippets and don't run a channel, it's good enough for me. However it would be worth considering for the best quality.
