Newcomer / Intro Wanna laugh or cry? Srv turret not working - switch cockpit mode hud whatever it is

-Hi, another damn problem, i'm tired of loggin in and out of the game every minute to find solutions all across the game for the TONS of inexplainable problems . I'm playing games since Mario, all 3d car games, shooters and adventure like Doom , Ureal, GTA ,Farcry, a lot of different things to learn and keybindings to consider (and overlapping). BUT this game is above limit . In 6 months of playing, a problem every day.
-Camera view STILL full of bugs CLEARLY VISIBLES, nonsense view angles, cockpit pilot view glitched by ship pixeled icon, useless messages popping up, ship stuck in the dock walls (glued) or bouncing even at low speed like a flipper out of control and damaging a lot of hull AND undermine passenger mission 3-hours long; extra buyables (real money) items disappearing and most of them not even noticeable, Mass Locked waiting the destination BEHIND the dock and ages to circle it, auto-dock crashing against the station's rotating circles, mouse cursor (triangle) no more shown when not even in the centre and so ship still moving, and STILL long empty moments while reaching destinations. Just a few examples, they could be 100 times more .

-The site elitedangerous.com link sends me to steam only for the buy. I have to manually find the direct buy link . .It doesn't allow me to login, password checked 10 times, not working, so I have to log with the game and entering it from the forum link. Also in the main game window the ''my account'' link sends to the site (exiting from the window), but the logout is under the Option. The ''Remember Me'' option is selected but not working.

-You know what? I never lost in space, always had money for Rebuy (insurance), never sold previous Ship for money for next Ship, never used players help like Fuel Rats, I never used the 'eddb' site, in which all the youtube videos talk about ''otherwise is impossible to progress''.

-Horizon: just bought, tons of problems, again. In this case ,right off the bat, the turret starts with is own <ahem> bulll-shiiitttt, the movement is upside down (up goes down and viceversa, whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy??????) . Srv at half speed, no rocks around, no jump-flying, then BAHM ''hull less than 25%'' .
Then after looking for how to completely set up the Srv (30 minutes) , I set the ''switch cockpit mode'' to button number 5 (numeric keyboard) and STILL not working. It switches between the seat view and the turret, it shoots, but with the Analysis mode it still says the error saying to press the ''number 5'' which I just set and that goes back to seat view, ''press number 5'', it goes back and forth, it says that button again even if i'm just pressing it.

I always remember one review saying ''in space noone (nobody) can hear you yawn'' (i think is even worst)

And yes <ahem> bulll-shiiitttt. is a common term here, is means <ahem> <Please do not edit a moderator action> common like ''boring, grind, chores, how to do it, nonsense''. They automatically cancel it when you type it because is used a lot.
Plus 50% graphic animation, 49% imagination, 1% ''simulation'' (gaming) experience.

What hardware are you using?
I'm on a PC and never need to log in and log out to search for something.
I switch window size in Elite and then open a browser.

Or just used windowed mode and you can alt-tab the browser on top of the game - like I'm doing right now.

This Steam link in the elitedangerous.com website is a mystery, presumably some arrangement with Steam or just a stupid web page coder (the other F D games are steam-locked) - The actual frontierstore.net site does not suffer from this aberration - PC-only purchases for Elite (XBox and PS4 are not linked on there).

Total mess if you ask me.

P.S. Doesn't Alt-Tab or the windeys-key work for you OP?

So windowing screen is a common use here, (we sadly know that) just like to say ''before buying it, remember that you will play/stay in windowed mode a lot because of the search for infos'' despite the fact that windowed mode IS NOT A PART OF THE GAME is a feature external of it, is part of Operating System when something is wrong (guess what?).
Why not telling it to programmers instead of throw it to other people, other people ALREADY know those damn problems.
Why don't you even WANT to correct those problems? Keep saying ''it's all ok'' when is not? Seems that they never created a game before (or never played one), or simply copy pasted the old elite with a new graphic. You die instantly, but for doing something useful it takes ages.
Is this a game? No, is enjoyable only for the graphic, you watch things happen, the rest is grind and boring. Is this a simulation? Neither, short or long distances, all are a waste of time, there are no proportions. Upgrades? running around the galaxy to find them is once again a struggle, and to find out that one upgrade EXCLUDES another one... with super jumps in fully coloured animation but if you forget to stop the engine at a star or immediatly turn the ship, you crash.

You had to ''invent'' alien thargoids for what?. Is that a real simulation of what, galaxy monsters? You simulate sleep-boring-long distances and then add some monsters? And Sightseeing mission? You have to go there AND COME BACK, almost doubling the distance (waste of time, it takes hours,and if you make only 1 thing wrong, the mission is lost). and for seeing what, a beacon? Not even something interesting TO SEE. There are hundres of examples. You are scared to say what we all know. If there is a forum where people (clients, buyers) have to be heard, is this one

Hi P H , you probably read all the message, compliments to you.
I dont' think factaboulous did it.
I never complained a game in my life, if something is hard, has a big reward. Elite is not even close. In all the game seems that one person did the graphic, and another one did the gameplay. They never comunicated, they never saw each other's work, never ''cross-tested''. Do I suggest Elite to someone (paying it)? No, waste of money. For free? Waste of patience, so neither.

Not necessarily. You can find all that information in the game. A lot of people are simply too impatient to look for it. Or where, in your imagination, does the content of these external websites come from? A small hint: those are not websites from FD - all of them are maintained and filled by players like you or me.

And what would be your preferred alternative? Yes, you crash out of SC. So what, all you get from that is the loss of a few % of integrity. If you do it right, it can be the fastest way to land on a planetary station. But getting it right can be difficult.

Again - how do you think the people who made those videos did it? You only "have" to watch those videos if you lack the patience of finding things out for yourself. And some puzzles require (or at least are easier to solve in) cooperation. Some of the puzzles are even hard (like decrypting the hidden messages from some of the installations, or finding Raxxla). Some people (check out the Canonn community, they've gotten really good at it, if a new puzzle is discovered/released on Thursday afternoon, it's often solved by the time I'm home on Thursday evening and definitely tagged and bagged by the time I have serious time to play on the weekend).

To give the "shoot first" crowd something to do. In a limited volume of space, so that not every newb would experience an extremely short encounter with a thargoid when taking off from the starter station. Also, there's a so far secret story line to follow. The Thargoids and the Guardians are connected - and there are lots of locked off regions in the Galaxy where other strange things might lurk. Maybe not even in locked systems - one repeated statement from FD is that there are other things out there to discover.

And Sightseeing mission? You have to go there AND COME BACK, almost doubling the distance (waste of time, it takes hours,and if you make only 1 thing wrong, the mission is lost). and for seeing what, a beacon? Not even something interesting TO SEE.

Nothing and nobody forces you to take these missions. And you really should read the mission description before you take it. Most beacons also have a story behind them, or a nice view nearby - but if you're not interested in glowing green gas giants or supermassive black holes, this is the wrong game for you.

I never run it windowed, I just alt-tab or press the windows key to task out to a browser or another app if I need them. I generally run a whole pile of apps while playing (not really because I need to, mostly they're chat apps and the like, or Spotify for music). It doesn't cause any problems as far as I can tell. I'm curious what games you've played that AREN'T like this. Either you run fullscreen and alt-tab to other apps or you run in a window and don't. What's the third option?

I'm pretty new, but I've found the progression fairly regular, and I've only ever died... twice, I think? Maybe three times. Certainly not a lot for a game with "Dangerous" in the title.

That's actually a setting. I'm at work, so I can't pop open the game offhand, but if you to to the right-hand panel ("4" by default on PCs) it's in there. Auto-dethrottle or something like that? If you turn that on, your ship will automatically set the throttle to zero when you emerge from a jump. (Note that this doesn't cause your ship to actually STOP, because you're still in supercruise and there's a minimum speed in supercruise mode, but you move slowly enough that you won't crash unless you walk away for a VERY long while, and you'll start to get temperature alerts long before then.)

I dunno, most of the things you list as bugs seem more just like the gameplay style of the game. No game suits everyone. Maybe E : D is just not the game for you. There are other games with different play styles.

That's not to say that E : D is perfect by any means -- there are bugs, and yes, there's a learning cliff, and yes, there are a lot of features still to come. I just feel like the things you mention in your post mostly sound like, "I don't like this game, so therefore it's broken." It's okay to not like a game, but it also doesn't imply that the game is broken or needs fixing.
