I see a lot of payers complaining about the lack of PvP. I too would rather fight players than useless bots with no skills...
So, I ask people to fight!
In Supercruise, I find players and ask if they want to fight, but only down to 10% hulls - as losing a ship is crappy - and at 10% you declare victory (or a loss!), and get to limp off to a station to lick your wounds, or bask in the glory. I fly a pretty kitted out Viper with Pulse Lasers only, so I only ask other Vipers or Cobras to dance with me. With the (very sad) lack of a PvP module (Which one could argue could mightily boost sales) this is about as close as you're going to get to an arranged 1v1 - and if you work this way there's no chance of losing your ship.
You can simply arrange for a pilot to interdict you if you want an empty ball room, or meet at a Nav Beacon if you want to show off your twisting skills.
My dance card is always open, and I fly as CMDR "Mobius." (The full stop distinguishes me from the sod who got "Mobius" first!) so if you see me, and you want to lose all your shields and 90% of your hull, then just ask me! I am currently cruising for bounties in and around SOL system.
About 20% of the people I have asked to dance, are eager to take me for a spin, but I'm always leading, I'm afraid.
In PvP you should agree that no Shield Cell banks will be used, and that using one is throwing in the towel.
REALLY wish there was a special PVP module, with chat rooms, and a way to fly an invisible ship around inside the combat arenas, so we could watch the action up close. Descent 3 used to have a "spectator" mode which made your ship invisible and immaterial. Was very cool.
