Newcomer / Intro Want to get in on the fun . . .

But I should probably not go to Chukchan in my unarmed DBX.
And my only fighter, a Vulture is still parked in Onoros.
Will this do the job you think?
Or should I look at a Krait?

I went to Chukchan tonight (in open) in a Cobra Mk III. No problems. No gankers just a few cmdrs PvP-ing amongst themselves. The rest was scanning the ship and speculating what it's all about.

The dbx is a good combat ship. The diamondback scout is surprisingly good without shields. It runs very cold and is hard to target. Also if you want to hop into combat at a low risk you can always just pick up an eagle.

My krait canopy has never exploded on me.

Right, neither has mine. This is a function of your shields. If you don't lose your shields, you won't risk your canopy. So the best way to protect it is to properly engineer those shields so that you don't lose them. In PvE I have not had shields shot away in years, which isn't about my skills, but about engineering and making the proper choices. There is the odd occasion when I'm trapped or make a mistake, but as long as you recognize this before they collapse you simply extend from the fight until which time the situation is restored.

In my case it helps that I only fly fast ships. I have a minimum boost requirement of 500. If it cannot do this in role trim it is not part of the fleet. This allows me to dictate matters in combat against the NPCs. Slower ships do not have this luxury and shield collapse is more likely.

Question stemming from the title of this thread...

Is this just a look and see opportunity, or is there something more? No, look and see and get shot at doesn't count as "more." ;)
