its funny as I put this up as a joke to see all the funny comments and boy I have laughed so hard, at least all the gd comments on this will hopefully be seen by ED as I too think the cargo scanner needs changing.

and no im not over there doing it as im mining then tomos im merit farming as all I did was put this up to see how much people kicked off when my friend tolled me about it all what has been funny seeing everyone's view on the matter.
at the end of the day low if I was out there doing this it is just another thing in the game people can do by choice as the items was put in the game to be use so why not use them at the end of the day, if anything people going out to scan smugglers just gives them more to look out for so they should have to learn and adapt the same as we have all had to with everything that pops up plus when 2.1 comes out everything is changing big time anyways e.g. robigo, combat, engineers and so on as I have played the beta on pc already so people who use robigo will get a big shock when planets and engineers all come out.

I never got this either, if I get scanned with "Illicit Cargo" warning up I should:
A. Imediately fail the mission associated with the cargo(if one), not that just be a special mission requirement.
B. Have the cargo "marked" so it can only be sold in an Anarchy system.

For me the only issue with OP is that his stated reason is meta not RP. It's splitting hairs frankly, as a case can easily be made for his idea being a valid RP proposition. His issue is with the PLAYERS at Robigo. Frankly there's an argument that OP should be modded, it constitutes negativity towards other players who are playing in a legitimate way.
The heart of the problem is that many of us like our RP but things like Robigo are meta-led mechanics (FDev simply catering for those players who want the big ships NOW, dammit). It's game logic, plain and simple. No, it's not 'fair' as such, but it's a contrivance that encourages those players to keep playing, rather than quitting the game because it takes too long to get rich. Ironically, the problem kinda of sorts itself out - the Robigo runners who are just crazy impatient to get to the big shinies will, once they've got them, then get bored wondering what to do and quit the game anyway. Personally, I grind the creds the hard way - it's why I'm still in a Cobra despite playing since Feb. But raging in RL that some players are getting stuff easily is, as already noted, negativity towards other players and their playstyles.
I think the idea of a faction dedicated to this cause is fine. I'd just prefer is was for RP reasons, not meta/RL reasons. I'd have loved it if OP RP'd it, saying 'Local galactic security is too lax near Robigo. These smugglers must be brought to book.' I could really buy into that. Getting upset with other players? Not so much.
